Dissimilar Restore: No Universal Restore Option

Thread needs solution

My wife has an old Dell PC w/Pentium 4 2.8GHz processor & IDE drives that I'm attempting to restore to a Gigabyte motherboard with SATA drives and AMD processor.
I'm using True Image 11 with the Plus Pack, both purchased as full versions.
I'm about to go insane, because I cannot fathom why the Universal Restore option will not come up
when I attempt a recovery; the image is backed up to an external Seagate 750GB drive.
When I back up the newer PC (has XP Pro), and attempt to do a restore from that image, the Universal restore pops right up, like I really need it then.
I've printed the True Image 11 documentation, and attempted to look over the knowledge base with
no success at finding a solution.
Regarding the True Image 11 and Plus Pack, they are the latest versions (Update 1,build 6696) that were downloaded less than a week ago.
Any help would be appreciated, as my wife has had that PC for quite a while and I was really hoping to restore it as close to original as possible.

Additional Info: The fact that the Universal Restore comes up with the backup as described above does seem strange; and it was a Raid 1 setup, and the Universal Restore still came up, while the manual states it won't work with raid; I'll take their word for it, as it may not complete properly, but it surely starts. The raid disks are not raid any longer either.
More info: I am performing a full disk back-up on the Dell PC (disk is only 80GB), and attempting to recover it to a 320 SATA drive. Probably something really simple, but I'm out of ideals.....

Further info: the Dell PC has XP Home (shouldn't matter, but just giving info).

OK, terrible night, and my apologies. Still, no "eureka".
I have True Image Workstation 9.1 and the Universal Restore, but the bootable media linux script breaks out on me, and I never get to a screen.
I also have True Image Echo Enterprise Server & Disk Director, and I sure the bootable media used to come up with a Universal Restore option;
and to add insult to injury :), last night when I performed a recovery to the AMD machine, it asked me if I wanted to PURCHASE the universal restore........I'm sure it's part of the package I purchased about 3 years ago.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I just wish I understood why the True Image Echo had the ability to do a universal restore, although the software obviously wasn't there, and my True Image 11 Home with Plus Pack just does not work. I've read and reread the documentation, thinking possibly that the backup had to be do some certain way....Still no luck.
Again, apologies, no excuse for that. It's just really frustrating to spend this much time and money, and not be able to get results.
Any suggestions & comments appreciated, and questions will be answered asap.

Forum was never supposed to have a guaranteed reply time or SLA of any kind.

Nowhere does it say it doesn't work with Raid (if it's a physical raid), it just can't deal with software raid organized on windows dynamic disk which (*edit - in case of raid 1, mirror) is not possible on windows xp anyway.

Obviously, no one gives a rats. Or, everyone has an IQ over 160 and I'm just a retard who's to be ignored.

No one has a crystall ball to tell what is wrong, and it's forum mods who request additional diagnostics info (and recomment to open support ticket but nevertheless...)

I noticed your posting on the other thread.

It might be late for this, but I just wanted to make sure you created a recovery CD after installing the Plus Pack.

You should see the option when you boot the new computer on the CD.
If the option doesn't show on the CD, it is likely that you have an installation issue that prevented the production of a good recovery CD. You should repair install ATI 2011 and then reinstall the Plus Pack then.

Anyhow, the point is that if you cannot perform the restore operation from the CD, you won't be able to.

Thanks for the replies. I've been away from PC's and this problem for a while now, and am attempting to approach this problem from a new and fresh perspective.
I'll restate my original problem with Acronis Home 11 & Plus Pack. I will note however, that with the first Acronis Home 11 I purchased, there was supposed to be a special that included the Plus Pack; for some reason, I had to purchase a Plus Pack update; not sure if this was a mistake or the way things are handled by Acronis, as I do have Acronis 9 & 10, so possibly I was given a Plus Pack update.
Regardless, when I installed Acronis Home 11 and Plus Pack, I was asked for the Acronis 10 serial number which I supplied and it was accepted, and it appeared to install OK.
After installing both on an old Dell (circa 2004) w/OEM XP Home, I created a backup of the primary drive. It does not contain a 'restore' partition, but is only an 80GB IDE drive. I printed out the documentation for Acronis Home 11 & Plus Pack, and followed it as closely as possible; the image of the Dell IDE drive was stored on a Seagate external USB HD.
Okay, I'm all ready to restore to a much newer Gigabyte motherboard with AMD processor, and I finally did get it restored to the SATA drive; however, the SATA drive is 320GB; possibly I missed something important in the documentation, but I restored the 80GB [also, the XP Home on the Dell was a fat32 partition] image to the whole 320GB drive.
Amazingly, it booted up. Unfortunately, the newer Gigabyte motherboard does not accommodate PS/2 keyboards and mice, but has only USB ports for these devices. Neither KB nor mouse were functional, so there I sat with a restored drive that apparently had installed MOST of the drives, but for some reason, wasn't seeing the USB KB or mouse. I pretty much gave up at that point.
I really need to make this transfer to the newer PC because the older Dell is limited to 1GB of memory
and only has a Pentium 4 2.8 processor, and onboard video, which is just barely cutting it with today's apps and the need for a much more powerful machine.
If I can't find a solution, I'm sure I'll go with paid tech support.
Also, please note, I apologize for any unnecessary comments made regarding Acronis or their software; I have no excuse, and I sincerely apologize to the forum members and tech staff.

It is possible that your restored XP is missing the drivers for the USB hubs on the Gigabyte motherboard. Did you try any other USB device to assess this? You might want to try on various USB port.

If you end up opening support ticket (not necessary paid in this case), the information that they will request most likely include (apart from usual acronis info on the original computer where TrueImage is installed (http://kb.acronis.com/content/2707), linux report from target (and may be source system) collected using bootable media (http://kb.acronis.com/content/1637) , and c:\windows\system32\config\system file from both source and target (after unsuccessful universal restore applied) computers. (You can boot from bootable media and use file backup to save it as it's not accessible from live system or the restored system that is unusable without keyboard) . If possible, c:\windows\system32\config\system from a fresh windows xp installation on the target system will be helpful too, to see what drivers were missed during UR (but don't post these and config\system directly to the forum).
