PXE Clients never receive DHCP address

Thread needs solution

I am seeing an issue where any remote machine I try to use will not receive a DHCP address. The DHCP server is on server A (2003 R2 IP..x..x151.21) and the acronis PXE client is on server b (2003 R2 IP..x..x151.22). We have the helper address in all of our switches set to IP..x..x151.21, and DHCP option 60 is installed in the DHCP server roles with the string PXEClient.

Can anyone help me on this one? I have attached an wireshark log for viewing.

Hello Jesse,

Thank you for your message. I will certainly help you with resolving this issue.

Most likely it happens because of the option 60. From my experience I would recommend the following KB article and if it fails to resolve the issue, please contact our Support team with the information described in this article.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Jesse,

what Anton wants to say is that you must not configure DHCP in your case. Just install the PXE-Service on server B and DO NOT CONFIGURE DHCP on server A. Remove option 60 and remove any other options you might have configured related to PXE.

What you want to do afterwards in the PXE-Console is to create a boot medium (YES, YOU WANT!). In the wizard you later have to choose Acronis PXE Server. Finish the wizard and then choose in the PXE-Console "Configure PXE". Follow the steps. That's it! Boot your machines and it'll work. I have the same configuration as you.

In my opinion that is documented very very poor and additionally I think there is no logic behind the configuration of PXE! I really really hope they change that!!!

Good Luck!

ok so what you are saying Know How is:

remove option 60 - done

test PXE - received IP, but did not load Acronis components

so I open my SD3 console, delete all PXE configs.

Click on create bootable media and send it to the PXE?

Then I want to configure the PXE option again?
