If Disabled, how to handle a potential mugger
Last Friday I was unfortunate enough to come across a couple of not nice youngsters who thought I was game to rob.
I had been in Manchester for a reunion of colleagues from 30 years ago+ (programmers) which we have twice a year which is always a pleasure but I not only live a long way out of the city these days but am disabled now too. However. I never let that bother me but late on my way back that evening I was threatened by these less than brain challenged twerps.
I was very alone and it was nearly midnight in a bus station but I did not feel threatened. I am not a big lad but I am very strong and hardened but in those places it can feel intimidating. And what happened, hehe, yes, three idiot types came along and thought I was ripe to be robbed. I admit I felt very scared even knowing we were on cctv.
I simply ignored them but of course one of them came up and said ' you alright MATE'. I looked him in the eye and said 'I was until you showed up, and unless you you want the cctv to show me breaking both your legs right now, MOVE'. And they did.
You need the confidence and the Will of God behind you may be. And a good stick!

Hi Andrey, yes it is about me and happened last week.
Looking back it scares me even more as to what might have happened, after all, I had been drinking and not as fast with my arms and stuff as I might like to think.
I phoned a neighbour and he came to pick me up and as we drove away we saw these same guys accosting someone else. We stopped the car but did not get out but it was enough to stop them and they moved on. I am not a violent person but a part of me wishes I had done some damage! A sub machine gun would be useful for us non violent types at times!
I suppose to put myself in such places and situations is a lesson.

All is well that ends well.
How about the police? I got an impression that streets are being constantly patrolled when I visited GB.
Looks like that was not the case that night.

Hi Andrey, the situation would almost certainly have been monitored on CCTV and the police are usually pretty quick to respond. But like a lot of places, their rescources get stretched more and more and they can't be everywhere. Especially it being a late friday night they would be very busy near the pubs and clubs - the binge drinking culture of the young these days is a major problem.

Crazy, I don't live in the city but I did get chased once by a guy with a petrol canister and a lighter.
