Turning off scheduled validation crashes TIH 2011
Following a suggestion in another forum thread, I wanted to turn off all scheduled validation to avoid the dreaded "Operations are in progress" that prevents me from rebooting or shutting down. (See: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/14139)
However, what I thought would fix one problem causes another - it crashes the program.
Steps to repro:
Open Acronis True Image Home 2011.
Select a backup.
Click Operations / Edit backup settings
Click File backup options
Select Advanced tab
Expand Validation node
Click Turn on regular validation
Click Do not schedule
Application crashes

I tried exactly as you suggested, thank you, but the application still crashes at the same location as before uninstalling and reinstalling.

OK, let's try something more radical.
First off, check that the Windows services are properly set up: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/19091
Then, using Windows explorer, move your TIB files to a hidden folder on your backup disk. This will protect them.
Then, in ATI, delete all your backups. ATI will complain it couldn't delete some files, insist, and the ATI will crash probably. Relaunch it.
Set up a new task and test the scheduling thing. If it crashes:
- uninstall ATI,
- run the cleanup utility http://forum.acronis.com/forum/14906
- reboot,
- reinstall ATI.
Set up a new task and test the scheduling. If it still crashes, you will need a more advanced diagnosis from Acronis customer support.
