Backups using TI 2011?

Thread needs solution

I am currently using TI v2011. I have my harddrive divided into 3 partitions. I want to create a backup task that will backup all files and folders on the 3 partitions to my external harddrive - and to run this backup on a manual as needed basis. By "as needed", I want to run the backup manually on my schedule and not have it set for 'auto' backup.

I created the backup in TI 2011, and ran it successfully. A few days later, I wanted to backup again and went to the Task that I created earlier, clicked "Backup Now" and nothing will happen. How do I create a task that will let me run it when I need to?

What am I doing wrong or what am I missing?

Thanks

The external must be attached and must be the same drive letter as original.

Choosing the Backup now should have worked assuming that the external was attached and recognized. Most likely it related to the external. Click on the help file (upper right) and look at the log file and check for error messages.
One thing you can try is assign a specific drive letter to the external such as x or y or z.

Create a new task and set your validation according to your preferences. Remember, there are two settings that must be either changed or accepted about validation. One is the validate as part of the backup and the second part is to click on the "once a month" and either accept that option or choose the "do not schedule" option. Set up all your backup retention or cleanup options as part of the initial setup so you do not have to edit the task.

Save and choose the Backup later option. Now right click on the Operations tab and choose the create shortcut. This will put a shortcut on your desktop and you can click the shortcut anytime you want to create a backup without opening TI.
