Acronis "Operation in Progress" window never closes

Thread needs solution

Stephen, The validation setting has two parts. The first part is for the user to choose whether a validation procedure is to occur immediately following the backup. Part 2 has an additional validation option which is preset to perform a monthly backup in 30 days. If you do not want such a monthly validation, then you must click on the "Once a month" setting and choose the "do not schedule" option.

Thanks, but the screen shot you are showing me is different to the one I get. I have Acronis Update 1 ( build 6696 ). I have checked for updates, via help option, and according to the response I am running the latest version. I also have the Automatically check for updates .... Ticked. If I new how to add the screen shot I would. I beleive that the dialog box on my version is more ambiguous than the one shown. Do we have the same versions?

Hi,
The only way I can see of adding an image is to add a file. My validation screen shot is attached.

Stephen,
Yes, we are both using the same 6696. My example shows more in that it illustrates the options in detail.
Your screen capture shows
Checked is "Validate backup when it is created."
Also checked (check is implied) is the Regular Validation: "Once a month"

In your situation, Acronis has set the regular (scheduled) validation to "once a month" (default value) and the validation task will run on the 30th day of each month (per your calendar attachment) unless you click on the "once a month" link and invoke the " do not schedule" option; change the schedule to some other date of your choosing. User must invoke the "do not schedule"
option if they do not want a monthly validation to occur.

Just for everybody's information - i have raised the issue with Acronis and got this answer:

Post edited according to TOU.

So they basicly dont give a damn about my problem ......... unless i pay to get it solved ofcourse ...... :-(

I rest my case ....... since this forum is voilating rights of free speach, i will leave it and delete the Acronis program from my computer.
I really hope for all the other users that the program eventually will function correctly.

Stephen,

Did you try the latest build? It loooks like the default monthly validation is turned off, although I am not quite sure whether it is the new default out of the box or it is because of default settings I have set up in a prior version.

I am having this issue also. Running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and Acronis 2011. The only way I can get the PC to shutdown now is to remove the battery.

Has Acronis come up with a fix for this or are they turning a deaf ear to it? I've disabled all scheduled operations and am about ready to uninstall the product I purchased in may of this year.

Anyone hear know of a fix yet?

My problems are solved!
I contacted the Acronis management mail, and was after that contacted by the pro-support. After some testing and updating with the latest version of 2011, i can take a default image/backup without the verification is started when shutting down the computer.

So i am basicly happy with the program now!

Hi,

My problem is solved:
My problem was: When PowerDown my system would hang FOREVER saying: “Operations are in progress, please wait.”
For many months I was not able to do those updates which needed PowerDown. Since I was NOT actually running Acronis when Powering down I did not suspect that it was related to Acronics until I found this problem in this forum.
I then used “Process Explorer” to see what was running before I shut down. There were 2 programs from Acronis: afcdpsrv.exe and schedul2.exe running. They were both called by “services”. Services was called by wininit.exe. wininit.exe was called by . By using the Process ID (PID) I found out that wininit.exe was called by a program “Cacheman”. Cacheman was called by winint.exe, (wininit.exe was called by .) So, to me it looked like a loop forever. I uninstalled the program Cacheman and the problem was gone. I can now power down my PC and get the updates installed.
I hope this can help Acronis and all of you to get the right solution for the problem.

I too experienced this problem (Acronis True Image 13, Build 5551) on my Windows 8, 64bit machine. Forcing a reboot is difficult, since Windows 8 just hibernates by default when I long-press the power button. So after "rebooting", I was stuck with the "operations in progress" message again. I had to take the battery out for a proper reboot.

This problem has troubled users for many years and it's still not fixed. I regret having bought the software...

My initial problem was solved a long long time ago - Acronis helpdesk was very helpful and actually made some changes to solve it.

As far as i remember, it is the 'scheduled verify' setting that made problems. I always choose NOT to use scheduled verification and have NO problems anymore.
