Can you validate an archive successfully that was created on another computer?

Thread needs solution

Since I NEVER get any help/answers in new threads, I'll ask this here. Can you validate a back up archive that wasn't created on that computer? Say I back up a couple of laptops and try to validate those archives when I get the external USB drive back to my desktop... I have two laptops that I backed up and the validation went fine ON the laptops themselves (ATIH 10.0), but the archives both failed validation when I decided to try, just for kicks, on my desktop (ATIH 2011).

Yes. You can.

The validation is a process that verifies the integrity of a chain of backup files, not their fidelity. When it runs, ATI recalculates the checksums it has put in the archive at backup time and compares with the initial checksums. If the numbers differs, the validation fails.

If the validation fails, there could be several reasons.
If you copied your achives to the desktop, the copy might have corrupted the file. If an archive you have on a USB disk validates on one computer but not on another, it could be related to hardware issues (memory, USB connection/drivers)
