TIH 2010 7160 Backup Wizard Hangs after selecting Image Location and Next
Laptop HP 8510 - Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 - New OS installation - Kaspersky IS 2011 - Admin profile.
Trying to image the new HDD using TIH 2010 wizard works perfectly up until the final sequence where the image location is selected and in sequence the 'Next' button is selected. The 'Browse' button remains in its focussed state and the wizard just hangs. The application just waits.
Task manager (TM) indicates that the application is running normally, and other installed applications can be invoked.
On closing the application using TM one gets the message that "The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you"; yet there is NO user response window/tab visible anywhere at all.
The only way out is to use TM to shut the BU wizard down which it does without any hesitation.
Have downloaded and installed SnapAPI l_s_e, but the wizard still hangs.
Have downloaded and reinstalled Acronis TIH 7160 having first removed ALL of the previous installation using Revo uninstall. No improvement.
Ok does anyone else have any ideas before I scrap this dog of an application and buy something else.
Any help and/ or advice would be welcome.... thank you in advance.

Usually what you describe is the program is waiting for the user to click on the target drive and then type in the file name to be assigned to the backup. TI can be sluggish so you may have to try a couple time.
If you have not tried using the TI Rescue/Recovery CD, you should be able to perform a backup without issues as Windows and Kasperly is not involved.

GroverH, thank you for coming back. Your point about TI being "sluggish" is one that I know well and understand. During the course of my many attempts to fix the the issue yesterday I did leave the application in its 'hung' condition for about twenty minutes thinking that it would come out of its 'vegetative state' of its own accord. Some hope, all that I achieved was to waste another hour or so as I continued to attempt to activate the HDD imaging process through the wizard at least five times. In my experience TI has never been "sluggish" for more than about four minutes. I am aware that I can run this function from the Acronis boot disk, however I purchased the software for its property of being able to image an HDD on the fly. I did find one workaround in that at the END of the wizard sequence INSTEAD of clicking on the NEXT (lower right hand) tab I clicked on the FINISH option in the upper left hand vertically arrayed menu, and that seemed to start the imaging process normally. If one considers the millions of users of Acronis TI that there must be out there, surely somebody else must have experienced this same problem. The machine build is not unusual in any way it's what I call a basic industrial build, newly installed, configured and honed for speed. I'm sufficiently annoyed enough to consider a Google search for disk imaging software, despite having been a loyal customer of Acronis for the last six years.
Anyway... thanks for coming back GroverH.

Hello John and GroverH!
Thank you for your comments. GroverH, thanks a lot for help!
John, it looks to be the drivers conflict with Kaspersky. We would highly appreciate if you could check, whether the issue is reproduced with the Acronis True Image Home 2011: you can find the trial version here. It's valid for 30 days and the only limitations are:
- Clone feature not available
- Bootable media can restore only
Should the issue disappear, please let me know, I'm sure we'll be able to implement the fix to the full version.
Should the issue remain, please gather Acronis Info, submit a case with the information attached, and let us know its number.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
