Validation schedule option defaults to "Once a month" despite changes made after recent update

Thread needs solution

When i take a backup it is always a full back up and my Disk back up settings >>> advanced tab I have Validate back up when it is created checked.
By default the Regular validation is schedules to once a month
I manually set this "Turn off Schedule" and check "save the settings as default" BUT THIS ALWAYS RESETS BACK TO ONCE A MONTH NO MATTER WHAT (Even the advanced settings (within) also set back to default). Th do not schedule backup just does not stick

This has begun happening only after the new build update 6857 (again?)

Has anyone else noted this stubbornness to shut of the validation schedule?

Sanjit,

This is a known bug or UI weirdness.

Thanks Pat

Known bug in build 6857 or in Acronis 2011?
Any workaround?

At this link (http://kb.acronis.com/content/15115) it said that the bug had been fixed - has it recurred?

No, there is no workaround. The bug is not the one on the link you mention. The one on the link was back then, when you couldn't save the validation setting at all.
The bug where you cannot include the validation settings in the default settings is still there.

Thanks for being so patient
One last thing Pat - If fora particular custom backup I set the validation setting to validate after back up and the validation schedule of a custom backup to Do not schedule (from once a month) what is supposed to be the result?

Yes, the backup will get validated after creation - that i know. Now what is supposed to prevail - the do not schedule or the once a month schedule? Because when i retrieve the backup settings (imported into backup list) of the backup, it again shows the validation schedule as once a month

Each backup will retain its particular validation settings. So once the task shows up in the backup list, you have to check the validation setting for each task.

I have the same problem where my Acronis 2011 keeps trying to do a scheduled validation once a month after updating to build 6857. I have tried to turn it off, but each time I load Acronis, it is still secheduled to run once a month. Each morning when I boot up my Winddows 7, I get a message in the lower right corner saying: Operation Failed. Backup validation task execution task failed. I think this message is coming up because the external HD I use for backups is turned off at the time of startup. I ony turn on the HD when I am going to do a new backup.
I sure would appreciate a fix for this problem.

This is a known bug with the latest build which happens when you turn on/off the BU disk.

If you turn the validation off in the backup options, it should stay off. If it doesn't, make sure you are on the backup scheme tab when you close the backup options. If this still doesn't work, try to create a new task and see if the problem subsists.

Apparantly this is a 6 year old problem that hasn't taken a high priority.  It's still a problem in their 2016 version too.  The recommended solution is to uninstall, reinstall and see if it works.

From customer support: "I suggest you to uninstall the Acronis True Image from your control panel and re-install it. Schedule a fresh backup task on weekly basis and see if this resolves the issue or not."

My response:  That's not very elegant.  Perhaps another way of handling this problem is to submit it to the developers to fix.

Please use the Feedback Tool in the ATIH 2016 GUI to report this issue to the developers if you are still seeing it with the latest build 6569 version of the product.

The recommendation to do a clean install of the product in these circumstances is to remove any issues which may arise after the product has been upgraded across several different versions and where errors may have crept into the database and other configuration files.  Starting with a clean install is a good way to prove whether the problem is system specific or can be proven to be in the current application.

There is also the Acronis Scheduler Manager utility which can help to determine if any issues are related to leftover schedule entries.

Steve,  Thanks.  After running the new installation and creating a new backup, the problem still exists so it appears that wasn't a good use of time.  I filled the feedback tool.  Additionally, the Notification that was working in the uninstalled version wasn't retained after I set it up again.  So there are several things that don't appear to save in the current build.

Hello, R7H1lt0n.

There is, indeed, an issue where you set up scheduled validation but after saving the backup task and opening its settings again, the validation schedule is gone. The issue was reported to the development team.

However, it's important to note that this is a vusual bug only - the validation does actually run on schedule, it's just not displayed in the settings correctly.
