Cannot run update check - does not accept trial version

Thread needs solution

I am trying to trial TrueImage 2010. When I start the install I click on the "check for updates". It asks for a serial number. I click the "trial" and a screen comes up saying "Warez serial no.". Then it says that it can't connect to the server. See attached screenshots.

As far as I know I've never downloaded any Warez-ware, and the only Acronis software I've downloaded is from this site.

Firstly - is the version that I've downloaded genuine?

Secondly - if so, why am I getting this error message?

Thirdly - how do I check for updates?

I've asked for pre-sales support but so far without success. Of course, I may be in a different timezone from the support team, but I really want to try it out before the weekend so I'm trying every avenue for help.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

You can download free trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 latest build using the following link.

If you have firewall enabled please check that Acronis True Image Home 2010 is in the list of approved applications and try again.

Thanks. I'd also reported this to Technical Support and got the same answer. Unfortunately id doesn't answer the question. I had already downloaded it - it was during the installation process that I had the problem.

As it is obvious that you do not read error reports before replying, it is unlikely that I will continue with the trial.

I had this problem with one build of TI (there is a thread here forum.acronis.com/forum/4183), in my case a clean out of registry, and a re-install solved that message. Though mine was a full version.
