Using Acronis Update, it indicates a new version exists, but after downloading and initiating it show this error:

Well, I solved the issue, I just completely uninstalled Acronis, and re-installed the downloaded files...

I have the same problem. But I don't have an old version of Acronis True Image installed on my Vista laptop to delete like the person who opened this thread. So, I'm a bit perplexed as to how to resolve this issue. I've attached the install log, if that's any help. Below is the error message I received:

Acronis installation program encountered the error #1603: " (0x10002) Tag=0xAD997C19487EB38F

My system is Windows Vista, 2Gb of RAM memory. I am the administrator on the system. I have full privileges to it.

If someone has any idea how to resolve this issue, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Ian,

It looks like the Windows Installer Service is not running.
Search for services.msc, look up the Windows Install Service, make sure it is set to manual.

If you tweaked your Windows Services, you should Google the default settings for your windows version and go back to the standard settings.

Where do I find this Windows Install Service? Search for "services.msc" where? On the Internet, on my system? Not sure where all this stuff is located.

I haven't touched any settings anywhere on this system.

I may have tried to install an older version of A. True Image on this computer a while ago, and deleted it when I learned that it wouldn't work. Might there be issues in the registry that need to be resolved, as I noticed in another thread?

CLick onthe start button, type services.msc in the search box. This will launch the service management console.

Yes, you might have some issues with some leftovers from a previous version. You can try revo uninstaller (force uninstall, aggressive settings, Acronis as search term) and/or JV16Power tools (aggressive Registry cleanup).

Also check the device manager to see if you have any Acronis device there. Uninstall the device if there is one.

Are you really sure that you want the new build ATI 2011 build 6696?

I restored the previous build as 6696 introduced a new really irritating error. This has been discussed in the forums.

6696 was a backwards step for my system.

Okay. I checked the Windows Installer Service and it is set to manual. I also checked the Device Manager for any Acronis entries and there were none.

I downloaded Revo Uninstaller Pro and ran it as you suggested (force uninstall, aggressive settings, Acronis as search term), but it came up with nothing.

Thanks for the tips. But I'm back at square one.

Ian,

I am running out of ideas and you probably need some help from Acronis support. You can also post here http://forum.acronis.com/forum/19091

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
I try the trial but unable to install it.

I think I try all to be able it's work but IT"S NOT WORK (not able to install after 8 try)
I delete this folder
C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp

I use the Acronis program Acronis True Image Home 2011 Cleanup Utility:
true_image_home_cleanup.exe [3.66 MB (3,842,000 bytes)]

I send you the log file :install_log.txt

Can I say I find very idtiot to not able to install a TRIAL !

And it's not my intention to install all my stuff again (Windows 7, etc.)
to be able to use Acronis.

So if no help I will look other company that's all.

Again it's idtiot and very complicated all that.

John,

You need to be an administrator to install ATI. Also, disable any security software that might protect the registry or the system in general before you install.

Smile
I'm admin even before you are born. And my anti-virus/firewall is OFF all time when I install a new software.
I've used for years utility "Ghost" by Symantec. Until the company became too big to be responsive to its customers and has begun to create products of inferior quality and / or crappy.

So I sought a replacement for "Ghost" and found "Acronis True Home." The same story is repeated time and for me to use other software.
It is clear that Acronis has become a big company and it has nothing to do with its customers. That's why its software is so poorly designed and we cannot even install them.

One can seriously doubt a company that creates software that cannot even installed and give extremely large file concerning possible errors.

For me now Acronis have no more value than Symantec.
But it's just my opinion.

Hopefully they are other similar software (EaseUS, Paragon. etc.) we can try.
I'm sure to find one better and that I can install the Trial without problem.

I am also experiencing this problem on one laptop. got a family three-pack license, and the other two computers update fine. I am unsure what it is about this laptop that requires me to completely uninstall before i can reinstall the update, EVERY TIME. It is highly annoying.
