Just purchased Acronis 2010 and it won't launch

Thread needs solution

Bought the 2010 cd from Amazon and downloaded build 7160 from the online site. trueimage.exe memory grows and grows until it consumes all available memory then crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Running Windows XP on 64 bit laptop.

I also tried installing from the CD using the out of date 2010 build and the product did launch. However, each time it crashed when I attempted to do a backup. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hello Lynette,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will do my best to assist you.

Would it be possible for you to perform the following to localize the issue:

1. Provide me with a Windows System Information File.

2. Uninstall ATIH 2010, download and install ATIH 2011 trial version to see if it behaves the same way.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,
Just now I tried to download a trial version of ATIH 2011 using key _

This key will not work, it says that my trial period has expired. About 2 or 3 months ago I downloaded a trial version of 2010 and then purchased it. Maybe it remembers that I already downloaded a trial version?

Please help, I need to perform a backup using any version (2010, 2011) before i get infected with another virus.

I've already checked the MD5 and they match. There are no devices connected to USB ports at all.

Thank you
Lynette

Just an open note to everyone on this forum that I've tried BOTH 2010 Home Image and the 2011 trial version. NEITHER one will launch on my work laptop running Windows XP. I have applied all upgrades, ran System File Checker, CCCleaner, Tweaknow registry cleaner all to no avail. After wasting 50 hours of company time I finally gave up. It crashes in msvcr80.dll because it is using the wrong version of the dll and conflicting. In process explorer I can see that it is using version 8.0.50727.4053 of msvcr80.dll. However, the True Image build manifest shows to use version 8.0.50727.762. There are multiple versions of msvcr80.dll installed as my detailed documentation shows. True Image just won't use the correct one.

I'm sure this is the source of the issue. I will not buy an incident support contract because this is a bug in Acronis software. I've attached a document of detailed information. I hope this saves someone else time and frusturation. btw, we are running MS Forefront Client Security. The version of msvcr80.dll that is already in use is required by the .NET and Word installation on this laptop.
