Can't get rid of "Backup Validation failed" popup

Thread needs solution

Every time I start my PC, there is a popup saying
"Backup Validation failed. Description: StageDescription For Details see action-log" (see attachment).
The action log says that ATI could not open the file "Data_D3.tib" (which is located on an external harddisk)

The reason for that popup is clear: I created a Backup to an external harddisk and did not deactivate the automatic validation. Normally, the external harddisk is not connected and therefore the error was detected. So far, so good.

After that, I deactivated the automatic validation and performed another backup. (Now, the latest version is "Data_D4"). After restart, the message is still there.

Then I validated the backup manually. After restart, the message is still there.

The problem is: How do I get rid of that message?

My configuration is:
ATI Home 2011 (Update 2, Build 6857).
Windows 7

That is a known issue with 6857. See the fix here:

Wow, that was a fast reply!

I will apply the fix and let you know the result.

Best regards,

Hi
This problem has its own thread, see below.
Also just to note that some of the fixes arent permanent, someone has already tried one of them and after a while the message came back, we are all waiting for a PROPER fix from Acronis.

Pete

I have the same problem and after about 2 weeks to and froing Acronis tell me it is an 'issue' with upgrade 6857 dated 1st June 2011 and it will be fixed at the next upgrade, whenever that is. I have found this latest upgrade to be very temperamental in performance compared to previous versions. When Backing Up I have lost the 'Time Remaining' bar. It now appears after I am told the backup is complete. Still awaiting a reply from Acronis on this one. Anyone else had this problem?

I have noticed that the progress bar is not there is you launch the UI from the System Tray Icon as a backup runs. But if you launch the program, and then launch a backup, it is working normally.

I launch back ups from the Main Screen then select a backup to perform from my list of Backups. It seems however I launch a backup I still get the problem of the missing 'Time Remaining' bar, which appears after the backup is finished. I have not got a True Image icon in the System tray.

Can you post a screen shot of what you see when you launch a backup within the UI?

The icon shows up in the system tray if a scheduled backup has started and the trueimagemonitor service is running.

I have now overcome the problem of the 'Remaining Time' bar not working. On checking I found that 'compatibility' was set to XP. On changing it to Windows 7 the bar started functioning correctly.

Hi all,
it's interesting to see how the thread topic changes from "Backup Validation failed" into "progress bar problems"....

Pat L,
thanks for your reply. The fix works for me.
