Unable to remote install Agent on Windows 2003 x64 SP2
Hi all,
I am working on installing 9 Acronis Backup and Recovery Advanced Edition with UR 11133, and all servers install well, all but one....
It is an Exchange 2007 Server under Windows 2003 x64 SP2.
I launched remote install from Management Console as I did for all other servers, and it failed.
When I looked at the server, it had Acronis services installed, but rollback had taken files away... So I am in a non clean situation....
I tried to reboot server, but still on install it fails.
Snapman.sys is installed, the service Acronis Agent is failing, what do I have to do please?
I think I should start by removing service, then removing snapman using Acronis KB (http://kb.acronis.com/content/1620), remove Acronis local Groups and then what ?
I get it is here :
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: Registered VSS provider (C:\PROGRA~2\FICHIE~1\Acronis\SnapAPI\snapapivss.dll), error 1
Fin de l’action 09:11:20 : InstallFinalize. Valeur renvoyée : 3.
Thank you for your help,
Jaycee

I reply to myself, even after cleanup still fails...
I've got this searching on support site :
VSS registration issue
MSI Log Cut
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: execution started.
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: Removed registry key
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Providers\{F5DBCC43-B847-494E-8083-F030501DA611}, result 0
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: Path to snapapivss.dll: C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Acronis\SnapAPI\snapapivss.dll
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: Short path to snapapivss.dll:
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\Acronis\SnapAPI\snapapivss.dll
1: MSIGEN:MsiVSSInstall: Unregistered VSS provider
(C:\WINDOWS\system32\snapapivss.dll), error 1
Action ended at 17:26:45: InstallFinalize. Return value 3.
This a rare Windows based issue. During the installation, Acronis product uses a Microsoft Visual Basic script to register the Acronis VSS. There is an issue with this Microsoft Cscript, which returns the wrong return value resulting in a roll back.
Please contact Acronis Customer Central with a reference to this article to receive a special build of Acronis Agent (11137).
Here I go!

Hello jaycee noob,

Thank you.
Seems like on Windows 2003 x64 I have to install using the /IGNORE_VSS_REGISTRATION switch.
So I can install, but it does not allow me to do incremental backups, only complete ones?
I am searching around to see what it does, and I'll post back when I have more logs.

Hello Jaycee,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]
I have answered via PMs, but I should share several ideas to avoid the misunderstanding of other customers.
In the next officially released build of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 you will be able to install the Acronis Agent ignoring the Cscript error by issuing the following command:
msiexec.exe /i AcronisAgentWindows.msi IGNORE_VSS_REGISTRATION_ERRORS=1
The program was designed to use Acronis VSS provider as a default option. If Acronis VSS provider is unavailable, the software should use the native VSS provider. The functions should be redirected automatically. This is the only difference of this installation.
Thank you.
