"Error writing the file"

Thread needs solution

Hello everybody,

when I run the try to build a disk image Acronis True Image always stops with the erreor message "Error writing the file" (German: "Fehler beim Schreiben der Datei"). When I click on try again a new file is created. It is filled up to a size 4.194.304 KB. Then the error message apears again.

Some idea what's wrong?

Best regards
Matthias

Where do you backup? To a local disk? Internal or external?

What version of ATI do you have?

Hi Pat L,
thanks for reply.

My backup disk is a NAS disk connected as disk U:
Operation system is Windows Vista home premium. I 've just bought ATI so it's the newest version available. (I've checked it on the home page) So I've got Acronis True Image Home 2011, Update 2 (Build 6868)

Best regards

Matthias,

Disconnect the disk U: and, in ATI, enter the full UNC path of your NAS: \\NAS\Share\Folder\backup.tib
You can also unfold the network folder when you navigate to your NAS destination.

Hi Pat L,
thank you for the hint. Somehow I can't find my NAS on unfolding the network folder. But this is an old problem. But it seems to work via FTP connection. I've already got several .tib files sized 2.097.152KB now.

I think this looks quite OK now. I will try to find out the solution vie \\NAS... later. But a connection via FTP is OK as well.

Best regards
Matthias

If you are using Win7, disable the homegroup function and use user accounts and password to manage your shares.
