Device driver 'ACPIPIC_UP' for 'Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server' cannot be found.
I converted a backup to a Windows Virtual PC image and got the The following message. Device driver 'ACPIPIC_UP' for 'Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server' cannot be found. I cannot find any info on this error.

I will use this old post to report the same problem. If I need to post a new one let me know.
We have an old Dell PowerEdge 6650 with Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 4 and we wanted to backup all the volumes and convert it to a virtual machine (Microsoft Virtual PC).
I used this KB (http://kb.acronis.com/content/6235) to do a Disk/Volume backup and convert it to Microsoft Virtual PC (Backup to VM conversion) . The backup completed but in the process of conversion the application (Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows Update 3 - Build 10.0.12497) ask me for a driver. The message was:
“Device driver ‘ACPIPC_UP’ for Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server’ cannot be found. Place the driver on a removable media or in the folder ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\UniversalRestore\DriverPack\.....’ and click Retry. The driver for the device cannot be found in the operating system or in the additionally specified drivers.”
I did not find this driver anywhere.
If the message was ignored the conversion is automatically canceled so there is no way I could test the new virtual machine.
I have understood that if Windows 2000 Advanced Server is installed on a Dell hardware (physical system) the driver it uses is “ACPI Multiprocessor PC” but if it is installed in a Microsoft Virtual PC or Hyper-V is uses “ACPI Uniprocessor PC” and the conversion is trying to install this new driver that is not found.
Where do I find this driver? There is a workaround? Known problem? Acronis update?

Did you try hal.inf and halacpi.dll from win 2000 install (repair) cd ?

Hi dev-anon,
Extracted from the Windows 2000 Server CD "\i386" the files hal.inf and halacpi.dll and place them in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\UniversalRestore\DriverPack\.....", hit the retry button and it didn't continue the VM conversion process. Even try to extracted few other files from the Windows 2000 Server CD halaacpi.dll, halapic.dll, etc. and no success.
What I finally did was hit the ignore button and for some reason the conversion finished without erasing the VHD file, obviously the log showed "Device driver ‘ACPIPC_UP" message. Even so, moved the VHD file to Hyper-V and created the new virtual machine. The virtual machine started, installed the Integration Services, reboot two times, and the ACPI Uniprocessor was finally installed and all other drivers. Everything is working properly.

I hope Acronis come with a KB or a solution for this particular issue.
