W7 clean installation then add old XP Harddrive for Multiboot with OSS

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I plan to install W7 on a new GPT 3TB harddisk and then add my old MBR harddisk with 2 multiboot XP systems. Want to have boot options for W7 and the XP systems.
Does anyone know if this will work under DD11 and OSS.

Thanks and Regards,

OSS doesn't support GPT disks. Also, OSS will display a warning message every time it boots because of the GPT drive (it sits there and waits for the users to click OK).

I shall stick with a 2 TB harddisk and MBR, as I will have only 1 W7 and 2 XP. Think that should be sufficient. What about my plan to 1. clean install W7 and then physically ad my old 400 GB Sata drive with the 2 XP systems?

That should work okay. I assume you're using the Windows 7 drive as the default boot drive. After installing Windows 7 and getting it how you want it, create a backup of the drive. Install OSS and then shut down the computer and connect the XP drive. Check the BIOS and make sure the Windows 7 drive is still the booting drive. OSS should detect the XP installations and setup the menu entries. If something isn't quite right, it can be tweaked.

Hello Mudcrab,
everything went well, I am running now W7 and 2 XP systems on my PC.
Thanks again for the support.
