I'm getting the same thing with the trial version of Online Backup 2010. I can honestly tell you that my overall experience has been hairpulling and frustrating. I think I'll try another backup solution because this is getting absurd.

Hello all,

Thank you for finding time to open the thread and report about the issue. I understand your frustration, and will do my best to help you.

According to the error provided, the issue's caused by the Scheduler glitch. In order to fix it, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Update Scheduler as mentioned in this article
    In case the issue remains:
  2. Download Acronis Scheduler Manager. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    task zap
This will erase all traces of the tasks.
  3. Reboot the machine
  4. Recreate the tasks

This should resolve the issue faced.

Should it remain, please gather Acronis Info and contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

I have the same problem with a trial version. The solution to 'zap' all tasks doesn't apply because I have never used the software and therefore don't have any scheduled tasks. Would like to try this out. Please help.

I have exactly the same error (Task 1E9DE340-C818-45F5-AF1B-8AE289136D57 does not exist). I've been trying to get online backup to work on my laptop to work for months on and off. I keep uninstalling the online backup and reinstalling. Clearing out the Acronis entries in the registry made no difference to this error. I have Acronis True Image Home 2011 too, which I have not uninstalled and have not touched its registry entries. I'm surprised that the latest download of online backup calls itself online backup 2010 still. The reason I reinstalled was because the daily backups hardly ever worked - they would use a lot of CPU time, constantly popping up messages saying "Calculating" and "complete" if the GUI was running, but then within a minute starting the process again, for several hours a day even on a very fast network (backing up 1.5GB of files only, which weren't changing).
Running schedmgr.exe did not help - task zap gave Error: 1722 (0x6BA) - The RPC server is unavailable.
I have Windows 7 Pro SP1, 32 bit. I downloaded the latest SAOB_en-UK.exe install file (version 1.0.0.4039)
Any ideas?
Chris.

With any luck it's now working - I downloaded the latest update to Acronis True Image Home 2011 and installed that and rebooted. Scheduling is OK now, and for the first time I'm seeing the rate of transfer to the server and the names of the files being transferred. Even the name of the program is now 2011. AOB version is still the same, 1.0.0.4039 from 3/2010).

I eventually found that Yana's solution worked (on two different computers at different times). The problems seem to have stemmed from a huge number of tasks being present in the list (which is not the same as the scheduled backup tasks). Clearing them all out fixed the problem.
This is what I did:
Run schedmgr.exe as admin. Type these commands:
get list
found >450 tasks (closed window at that stage)!
Rerun schedmgr.exe:
task zap: this deleted all but one task, took at least 5 mins to delete them all.
service restart: released the last task so another "task zap" could remove it ("get list" now gives no tasks).
Now when I run AOB, it gets through to main screen immediately (much faster than before).
"Back up now" now works fine, and has continued to do so for the last month.
