Network backup

Thread needs solution

Hello

My partents have small company with a pc network with one server and 3 workstations. On the server there is Windows 2008 running I think so, but not sure. On the workstation there is Win XP Prof.

Because I have for private use Acronis True Image Home 2011 and I'm very lucky with it I think it's also a good idea for backup the server and the workstations. The backup would be done on a NAS.

Is it possible to use ATI Home?

Not really. It is not possible to create a disk and partition backup off a remote computer. You could create a file backup, but I doubt this is what you want.
You would need Acronis Backup and Recovery product to back your server, computers remotely.

ATIH is not supposed to work on Windows Server 2008. Maybe it does... You would have to install it on the server to be able to create a disk image.

So I have to install Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Server für Windows on the server and Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Workstation on the workstations?

I am very familiar with AB&R so I will let more knowledgeable users describe how this works exactly, but yes you have to install components/agents on each machine that you need to backup, and you can direct the backup plans from a console running on a workstation.

On the server I have to install Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Server, but what do I have to install on the workstations?

Kurt,

I guess you will find fewer AB&R users here. You should chat with Acronis, and/or post your question in the AB&R forum.
