Bootable media disk and esata
I use bootable media Build: #6868 . Withan externsl case connected via eSata I get following message
Acronis loader severe Error bootdevice(parttition) not found. Press Enter to try booting installed OS.
Enter starts WIN7.
Disconnect eSata normal process starts.
Downloaded the tool from Western Digital it starts with connected eESata-device.
The only difference I see is WD only has one choice and none of hem from Acronis.
Is there a version of bootable media without OSS?

What is the tool from Western Digital for?
Acronis True Image WD Edition downloaded from http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=606&lang=en
I installed this tool, created a bootable media.
I am trying to make an image of my systemdrive.(3 Parttions).
Acronis True Image 2011 Home from Acronis crashes with installed external drive connected via eSata, see above.
The WD bootable media works with installed external drive connected via eSata.

Manfred,
Does the 2011 CD work normally when the eSata disk it not connected? But it doesn't when the eSata disk is connected?
This would be weird. The message you see is typically showing a problem with the recovery CD itself. Another message would show up if ATI didn't have the drivers to support your eSata drive controller.

Pat,
the bootable media, downloaded from Acronis, Build: #6868 , with connected eSata drive crashes. If not connected normal processing starts.
I downloaded Build: #6868 several times to eliminate a bad file. Always same procedure. I can't understand why the WD-Tool runs without problems.

The behavior you see would point to a driver issue: the Linux version wouldn't support the eSata controller that you have. The WD tool is based on an older version of the Linux drivers, and we have seen cases where prior versions are working but not newer versions.
There isn't much you can do except:
- create a BartPE-disk is you have the XP installation files,
- contact Acronis support,
- or buy the Plus Pack and create a new WinPE-based recovery CD. You have to pay for the Plus Pack.

Thank s so far.
Acronis support is over after 30 days, they told me. I have to pay for a new support question. Thanks, never. May be it will be fixed in TI Home 2012 :-(.
Fine marketing flubdub.
I'll have a close look on my WD-Tool.

Manfred,
I am using eSata wth 2011 and without any eSata issues. In XP Pro desktop, using a PCI card as the connector. aLso have a Antec Hot switch caddie which has an eSata connector.
On my laptop, must connect as usb with no issues.
As Acronis will only allow one version, when you installed the WD version, highly probable you installed it overtop the paid version. If you are wanting to troubleshoot your problem, you will probably have to uninstall and run the Acronis cleanup utility or restore an old backup.
Whenever the 2012 is installed, be sure to clear out the old before installing the new.

I do not use the Windows part of Acronis. I use Bootable medias.
All of my Acronis bootable media products crash.
The only diffrerence I see is WD uses kernel 2.6.35.12 followed by acronis-b94, my Acronis product use 2.6.35.12 acronis-b93.
But I'll end this thread and hope 2012 will handle it to the best.
