Acronis for windows 2000 pro

Thread needs solution

Hi

I want to make an image of a Windows 2000 Professional computer... it has raid disks... and I want to store the image on an USB device (not so much storage left on hte computer)

I downloaded a trial of Acronis True Image 2010 but to my suprise it didn't work on Windows 2000.

So my question is... what is the newest Acronis True Image version with support for windows 2000 ?? (and handles raid and can store to usb)

Thanks

Hello Leif,

Let me answer your question.

Indeed, Acronis True Image Home 2010 supports only the following OSes:

  • Windows XP SP3
  • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
  • Windows Vista SP2 (all editions)
  • Windows 7 (all editions)

The latest version of Acronis software that supports Windows 2000 Professional SP4 is Acronis True Image 11 Home. It can back up RAID arrays and save created archives to external drives (USB/FireWire/etc).

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Strangely enough, I have a win2k workstation i would like to retire. Is it possible to source an older copy of ATIH to enable this to happen?
Thanks in advance
GM

You can use a bootable media of the newer versions of ATIH to back up (and restore) Windows 2000 system without installing it on the computer.

If I could get an older copy that supports windows 2000, then i reckon it would work. I made bootable media, but the win 2000 system did not boot. Any other suggestions? Cheers GM

Do I understand it right that you made a bootable media of ATIH, say, 2011, and the old hardware failed to load from it? (It may require 512 Mb of memory) Or you backed up windows 2000 system, restored in on a new hardware and it failed to boot?

Yes I made bootable CD from ATIH 2011. All good there.

Unforntunately, the old workstation has 256MBytes of memory, but because it is win2k, used to use a set of 4 diskettes to boot from 3 1/2 " Floppy!! remember those? :-). I guess very modern compared to the 16k 12" floppies i saw in the early 80's to run a 'huge' mainframe

The CD drive is IDE setup as bootable and the 3 x hdd are all SCSI. I have to admit it has served me well doing CAD!! since 1997!! :-). Mostly retired it though 2 or 3 years ago now... Boot hdd was a little squeaky on 1st start up, but all good after 3 days on!

It does try to load whatever files on the cd, but comes up with an error...think it maybe something to do with network access, which is all i can see in the system log...."The COM+EventSystem detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80080005 from line 42 of \eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft..."...directs me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909444
Seems it maybe a security issue?...I shall check it out later tonight and get back to you.

Cheers for all the info...very proactive...
