True Image Home 2011-File Backup Deleted My Partition Backup From My Backup Device

Thread needs solution

I successfully created a Disc/Partition backup of my C Drive (only have 1 partiton).
A couple of days later I created a file backup of all files on the C Drive.
When that completed, I found the previous partition backup was gone from my backup device (external HD).
What did I do wrong or forget to do?

Did you delete a backup task? Deleting a task deletes all the TIB files attached to it.
What type of backup disk do you have (size, type of connection)?

I did not delete a backup task, as far as I know.
It's not impossible that I did delete the task, I just don't recall.

I've done this procedure before without problems.
If I had accidentally deleted a task, would it still show up as follows?
*******************************************
In Acronis, the partition backup file that was deleted still shows up in the "My backups" list.
It is shown as "Local disk (C) - not backed up yet" and "The backup has successfully completed (8/3/2011)".

I use an external WD 3TB USB drive for backups. The drive that I backup, and create images of, is an internal WD 1TB drive.
Running ATIH 2011 with XP Home SP3.
I'm going to try the same sequence again (image tonight and file backup tomorrow) and see what gives.

Thanks for responding.

ATI 2011 does not support GPT disks without the Plus Pack. Your backup disk is 3TB and may be a GPT disk.

http://kb.acronis.com/content/2974. According to this kb, you can convert the GPT disk to an MBR disk.

Aside from this, it looks like you didn't delete the task. The archive file got deleted somehow, and I cannot imagine how this happened because of ATI.

I used the same scenerio again (one day-Partition backup, next day-file backup). This time all backups were created and nothing was deleted.
So I guess the original problem was operator error. In fact, I'm sure it was.
I can't seem to find a definitive answer as whether my Western Digital 3TB USB drive is GPT or MBR.
I don't know much about that. I did find info about a 2TB limit on drives in Windows.(???)
I can access my 3TB drive and it is certainly recognized by XP SP3.
I have made test file recoveries from ATI (from this drive) and they worked OK.

I have experienced some things though.
My old "Retrospect" backup program failed on this drive with "Bad API Request".
And the disk defrag pgm "Defraggler" won't work on it either. Although other defrags do.
I think I'm getting into the Black Magic area of Windows.

Thanks for your replies.

If you right click on the my computer icon on your desktop, choose manage, storage, disk management, you will see a picture of your disks. In the view menu, choose Top>disk view. You will see whether you have an MBR or a GPT disk.

It shows the drive that I'm backing up to as an MBR type.
Anyway, ATI seems to be working, as long I watch what I click on.
