can I use TrueImage9.0 to remove HD partitions?
I have a Dell Inspiron6000 running Windows XP SP3 with a 100GB hard drive that is presently split into two partitions of about 20GB and 80GB (plus a third FAT partition of 62MB). I would like to remove the partitions and have all existing system and user data mushed into one 100GB partition. So, if I run a full backup onto a USB-Maxtor HD, create a bootable CD and then reformat my hard drive into a single partition, does the recovery process allow me to restore all partitions into a single target partition? Part of that question is, can a partition be restored into a target partition that is of a different size and not empty?

You should be able to use the Add New Disk wizard of TI 9 to clear the drive of its partitions and create one the size you want.
You can restore a partition image into a target partition of a different size. It can be empty or contain data. TI will delete and recreate the partition as part of the restoration process. Note that the target partition must be large enough to hold the restored data from the image backup.
