Recent 2011 purchaser offered free 2012 upgrade - but how do I get it - have got serial number

Thread needs solution

Hi there. When I try to get this it just sends me to either the free trial or to purchase. Help please.

Might have been nice to have a link in the email advising me of the serial number to use.

Alsoo, why do users need to login separately to the forums as well as the main Acronis site - very user unfriendly!

Mark,

If you have a 2012 serial number, just register it on your account and then downlaod 2012 from there.

Have you visited the following webpage (I don't know what link is in your email) http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/free-upgrade/

That takes you to a page enter your name and email address and then enter your 2011 serial number. The new number gets sent to your email address if you've ticked the appropriate box.

Alternatively you can download the trial version, uninstall 2011, install 2012, enter the serial number which should then prompt you for the 2011 one as well (this assumes 2011 had a full not upgrade serial number). If it doesn't and installation proceeds OK, it might be that the installer auto picked up your 2011 serial from registry.

Hi thanks for your reply - yes got that link and got the new serial number in an email. Then the trail goes cold ie how to use that serial number. Nothing in the email with the new serial number to help. I guess I will try the trial version and enter it there. I wonder if anybody actually tested this process?

Mark,

The trial is the full version with the exception cloning doesn't work and the rescue CD is limited. If you enter your serial number it unlocks it to the standard full version, but if you have the serial number why not register it to your account and then download the standard full version from there?

Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Log into your Acronis account. Then, on the left side of the window, click Product Updates. You can download the new 2012 there. Good Luck!
