Restore from 2012 boot media fails; restore using 2011 boot media works!
After restoring the TI 2012 back up of the system partition using TI 2012 boot media (CD), the OS (XP SP3) goes into an endless loop of automatic log on / log off. Restoring from a different version of the TI 2012 backup gave the same results. I made several attempts with same results.
I then tried to restore the partition using TI 2011 boot media and it worked!
I will remake the 2012 boot media and test again, but heads up folks!

Yes, Pat, that is exactly what I did, and I am doing it again at this very moment because the new 2012 boot media I made gave me the same looping results after restore.
And now the results are in: 2011 boot media came to the rescue again! System is up and running!
That's pretty conclusive, I'd say. I'll try making the TI 2012 boot media on another computer and give it another go, but I'm doubtful that will bring any different results.

My guess is the Linux environment on the 2012 version CD is not supporting your hardware properly. I don't know if there are any updated iso images on the site for 2012 but you could check.

Interesting guess,
The hardware I am testing on is years old. Sometimes (i.e. once in a while) the 2012 boot environment will give me a read-failure message on the source (USB external disk station); 2011 never fails.
I guess I'll have to risk testing on some more recent hardware to be sure.

So, the restore on newer hardware using a TI 2012 boot medium works.
In any case, it's nice to know that 2012 images can be restored with 2011!

Nice to see. In general, this forward compatibility is not at all guaranteed.

the ati2011 bootcd is one of the best acronis every made. I guess, at least for some, that remains the case.
