Can't resize partition during restore with ATI 10
I am trying to resore my 30GB TIB image from USB drive to a 250GB internal drive, and it will only recognizes 38GB.
I upgraged my BIOS to the latest version, but still no luck.
This in on an older Dell desktop, and in the past I was able to use a 160GB drive. I tried the method where you select the partition to restore and then try to drag it out to a larger size but that does not seem to work,
Does anyone have any similar experiences or suggestions?
Thanks.

If this is the old version 10 from several years ago, you may get some help from my guides on that version. Click on the link below and look at index item 3-B.

Thanks MudCrab and GroverH!
After reading the 3-B article I realized that that is the instruction I followed. It must be related to the Excelsior HDD from newegg.com.
I could not stretch the partition past 38GB, although I could shorten it.
I do not think that I have media direct however.
The instructions for the HDD indicate that if you see a size smaller than the 250GB, you may need to upgrade the BIOS (which I did).
Perhaps there is a 160GB limit for the BIOS for this old Dell 4550 desktop.
Thanks again for the help! :)

If the computer saw the 160GB drive correctly I would think it would be able to see more of the 250GB drive.
Do you have the new drive installed now? Can you post a screenshot of what Disk Management shows for the drive?
Which BIOS version did you upgrade to? A08 seems to be the latest. A04 added support for drives larger than 137GB.

Thanks for the reply! I will try to answer the questions you posed.
I am working on a different computer now, but I will check the disk management and let you know what it says.
I upgraded to "A08" version of the BIOS. I was quite surprised when it would not see the size larger than 38GB. :)

Couple comments.
If you use the TrueImage Add Disk option, it will display the disk size being recognized.
The partitions must be restored in the same order at that shown in Windows Disk Management. In order to resize a partition, there has to be free space after the partition so that free space can be assigned to your current partition.

I did try the "add disk" option and there was no free space at the end of the area shown. I would use the hand icon and drag, but I could only make it smaller than 38GB (unfortunately) not larger.
The disk ( C drive) only had the one partition, along with the boot sector.
I assume if the jumper is set incorrectly, (ie, not cable select) then the HDD not not be recognized.
Thanks again! :)
