E-mail backup scheduling

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I've been creating an e-mail job and added a schedule. Why is there no option to execute the backup task at system shutdown ?

It would be nice if this would be possible.

Regards,
Tom

There is, or at least there should be.

On the scheduler select the option to backup at an 'event'. You can then select system shutdown or startup etc. My 2012 Outlook (email) backup occurs at system startup when I can be sure the files are not in use.

Well, the option is not there (at least not in my version), see attached screenshot

Norman,

Are you sure you looked in Email backup, rather than Files or Disk image?

I've just checked my copy and there is no System Shutdown option under Email, but there is under the others.

I don't know whether this is an oversight by the programmers or deliberate.

You're right I just assumed all backup types would be the same.

I do my email backups at startup as I can be sure the .PST file(s) will not be in use. I reasoned that the backup could fail if I didn't shut down Outlook before shutting down the PC. I have know the file(s) to keep a lock on even after Outlook closes. Maybe that's why they don't offer it as an option.

If there's a reason that they don't support it, it should be documented but can't find anything in the user guide.
