1st tib restore on second machine fails ?
No issues with Acronis on my Win 7 Pro 64bit machine...tried a test recovery on my other Win 7 Pro 32bit machine via boot/recovery dvd...everything goes smooth until reboot...then when I choose Windows from the the Acronis boot screen...I get a "Boot Manager Missing"...press control alt delete ?
Also tried booting from C:drive with boot/recovery CD...same issue
This just recreates the message..."Boot Manager Missing"
The tib file does validate without issue ?
Also restored C: - System Reserve systen drive D: - & MBR....same "Boot Manager Missing"...
Now what should I do ?

Before I start....is there any way to get a screen shot of the Acronis boot/recovery screens ?
Should the reserved partition (D) be marked both active and primary..?..or just active ?
The recovery partition I believe is marked as the "D" drive ?
How should the two be marked in the recovery screen...active - primary or both
D: Reserved Partition
C: Main Installation Drive
Thanks

System reserved should be primary, active. C:\system primary only. Don't try to change the partitions letters you see on the CD. You can ignore them. Look carefully at the partition labels to understand which is which.
There is no way to take a screenshot except with... a camera :-)

OK...tried the command prompt process via Windows Install DVD in above post...no joy so far...same "Boot Manager Missing"...upon reboot
When I get to List Disk (step 2)...I get the following:
Partition ### Type Size Offset
Partition 1 Primary 25 31
Partition 0 Extended 253 25
Partition 2 Logical 234 25
Partition 3 Logical 19 259
Now...On the main HDD I 'believe' there were only 2 partitions...The "System Reserve - D" & the "Main Installation Drive - C".
I don't know what the other two partitions are and/or which one is the system reserve partition...?...how can I be sure which partition is the "reserve" to mark it active ?

You must get this result when you type LIST PARTITION. And the disk you list the partitions from doesn't show a system reserved partition.
Are you sure you selected the right disk?

No...I'm not sure...pretty confusing for me on what drive/partition was the one to choose...
However...system is now fixed...thanks for all your help on this...

How did you fix it? With the Win 7 installation DVD?

Yes...via the Win 7 installation DVD...but not troble free. After first failure of my try at the DISKPART cmd attempt...I tried the "Repair System Startup" in the DVD screen...however...this failed with an alarming "Windows cannot fix the issues" or something like that. Rebooting and trying the DISKPART steps again resulted another "Boot Manager Missing" at system boot up.
So I rebooted again via DVD and desicded to try the "Repair System Startup" again and with great releif...it worked and the PC booted normally. I must have been doing something wrong or choosing the wrong Partition in the DISKPART/CMD methode...but luckily the second "Repair System Startup" worked ?

Although you didn't use DISKPART right, you were lucky that the active partition was indeed active. Then Win7 was able to fix the startup by updating the boot files.
Repairing the startup can take a few passes to work. There are other ways to fix it with the bootrec command in a command prompt but that too takes several commands.

Thanks Pat...I think this all started when I tried to do a recovery operation on this machine due to an Antivirus program issue. My other main machine...the Win 7 Pro 64bit.....does not use a System Reserve partition....so the recover operation is pretty straight forward.
The problem machine tho does have the System Reserve...and that's where I think I goofed.
1st) on the first attempt I think I only restored the main C: drive...not bot which if I read the knowledge base correct is a no no.
2nd) In the next attempt I found it confusion to designate which partition to restore to which drive/partition and may have messed up there.
Anyway I will have to be much more careful when I assigned what to go where in the Acronis Recovery boot disk recovery on the 32bit system with the System Reserve
