CPU utilization during backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

sorry, my English ins't very good, but I try to explain my problem - if it is one.

During the backup of my data (round about 480 GB) to my USB3.0 external HDD, the CPU utilization is permanent 90 to 100 %!
I don't have to tell you that therfore also the temperature of the CPU is very high.

It does not seem to me to be normal, it must be a bug, which i would like you to fix it.

Panka,

Do you have the same issue if you backup to another disk?

When you edit the backup settings, backup options > performance tab, can you lower the performance slider?

Hello Pat L,

I have testet different devices. Same there.

But the problem only appears, when I backup to an USB3 disk.
If the same device is plugged into an USB2.0-port, there is no problem.

But it does not seem to be a problem with the port, because copying data to that device with Windows 7 is no problem.
Only Acronis True Image Home 2012 causes the problem.

Even with lower performance the problem appears.

Update:

The issue only appears, when "Compression" is set to "High" or "Maximum" (then the utilization is permanent at 100%!!!).

Without compression or "Normal" there is no problem.

I don't know, whether it is a general USB3.0-problem or a problem of ATIH ...

Panka,

Increasing the compression rate beyond normal will not yield good results for the average home user how has a bunch of compressed file format files (JPG, MOV, MP4, MP3, VOB, etc.). In fact, you might end up with files bigger thatn the original.
