More files backed up than I wanted
After downloading drivers I got from online support I finally got Acronis to work. I am simply backing up my Seagate 2TB external hard drive to my WD 2 TB external hard drive. I requested a file back up with an incremental scheme. I ONLY listed my source as the Segate drive. The back up took about 12 hours which is ok since I just let it run all night. However in the morning I saw that Acronis had also backed up files from my C drive which I did not need or ask for. My Segate external drive has 232 GB used and the back up WD now has 348 GB used.
Can I go into the WD drive and delete those C drive files without messing up the system? Why did it copy the files from my C drive? I will be adding files to the Seagate and will want to do an incremental addition to the WD so I want it to go smoothly. I am using Vista. Thank to all who help.

I understand what you mean by selecting sub folders, but I am not following you about "creating a new backup category." Can you give an example?
Also, if I go into the drive that was the destination of the backup created by Acronis can I delete all the C-drive files that were put there in error without doing harm to the process? I will be adding incremental files from the other hard drive soon.

Look at the attached.

Ok, I think you are saying to jut add another layer of file above the documents I am backing up.
I still need to know if it is ok to delete the C drive files on the back up drive or will this make Acronis not recognize the drive anymore. I admit that I really do not understand how Acronis does its work. Was there suposed to be something attached to you last post? I don't think it is there.
Thank you for your continued help.

I ended up with a double post, but the first one has the attachment showing how to create a category instead of selectin the my documents folder. Not sure it works with 2012, but it was working with 2011, which had similar issues.
Not sure what you mean when you talk about deleting the C drive files on the back up drive. I imagine you mean deleting the files in the archive?
You'd rather do a new backup.

I have this problem too.
I can't use the "category" method. I have hundreds of subdir to select. It's impossible to handle.
It's incredible how many bugs this version of True Image Home 2012 has.
It's almost impossible to use.
Never again...

Yes, I mean deleting the files from my C drive that were archived without my concent. So to do anonther back up do I delete what is on the back up external disk and start again?

The best way is to launch ATI, delete the backup task. Then delete any remaining TIB file manually that you don't want to keep.

I just went online with tech support and he told me to recover the files first, delete the C-drive files I do not want, and then continue with my increments. I had to sign off so I would like your opinion on that method and give me any details.
This is a MAJOR problem with this program. I don’t think it should have been released with this bug. The tech support guy said that Acronis knows about this issue.

When you say delete the Tib file I assume you mean going into the external hard drive and deleting it.

Yes. Sometimes, after your delete the task, some TIB files are left orphaned on the backup disk. Sometimes not TIB is left. THis is just cleanup. If you delete TIB files without using ATI, you can get into trouble because ATI's database is out of date.

I deleted the back up and tried the method of adding a category in “Source.” For Category 1 I used my J drive as the “category source.” The J drive is where my Seagate external hard drive that I want to back up is connected. The result is that it ONLY backed up my C DRIVE! How did that happen?
This program is simply not ready to be sold. I guess Acronis did back up my external drive the first time without use of the Category, but it ALSO backed up things I did not want and this will serve to take up valuable space on my back up drive. The bad thing is that according to the tech support person this is a known flaw.

I am having a similar issue...when I go into recovery it has more files and folders than I requested. Are you all working on this problem?
