New version of Acronis Sync Agent is available - crash
When I start ATIH 2012 I get the message:
New version of Acronis Sync Agent is available
Clicking on Download and Install starts the download and amost instantly causes getting message:
ATIH has stopped working and program exits.
Anyone has suggestion what is this about? I have most up to date ATIH version 5545. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

I cannot download the new sync agent. As soon as I get the message about getting downloading it crashes. I am attaching the screen shot. Hope it can be resolved. Is there any other way to download the new sync agent? Thanks in advance for your help.

Ludovit,
Until you and RayG mentioned it, I wasn't aware of a sync upgrade. The fact that you can't run 2012 after starting a download looks as though either something is interfering with the download or something isn't right with your existing installation. I say this as my download was from within a VM which can at times be a little 'touchy' when it has to talk to the outside world.
Do you have automatic updates switched on or do you select cgeck for update manually? I have the latter, so whilst on first look that shouldn't make a difference it might be that the code has a race condition and something hasn't either loaded or initialised itself when the download starts. Try switching autoupdates off (if set) and manually select the check.
Make sure your firewall isn't objecting to the download. It is possible that the error message box is generic rather than pointing to the actual problem, Acronis error messages tend to be cryptic and confusing.
Is there an entry in Windows Event Manager for the 2012 crash? You can make a crash dump file (should Acronis ask for it) by right clickin on the error message box and selecting crash dump.
If that doesn't work, try a repair install of 2012.

Thanks Colin. I tried everything possible including disabling firewall and anti virus protection on my Norton NIS 2012, I tried safe mode with networking and every time there is crash. Finally installed and reinstalled and still the same problem. Really frustrating...Thannks in advance for your help. I cannot believe anybody else does not have this problem.

Ah the dreaded Nortons, I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of Symantec since about 2000 when they changed the way their products interact with the system so I'm always automatically suspicious. Part of the problem is Nortons embeds itself so deeply inot the Windows OS that parts of it are alive and ticking even though you think you've uninstalled or disabled parts of it.
I'm not actually saying thar Nortons is the cause, I'd be happier if someone with the same version andbuild as yourself was reporting the same problem.
Have you looked at Windows Event Manager to see if more than one process is crashing at the time?

Hi Colin,
Thanks for your help. Didgging in Evet viewer I found the following error:
356: ERROR: read_msg errno 10054 (An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) I am attaching for you to look at the details. Maybe this will shed some light. Thanks again for your help.

BTW when I try to Generate System Report from ATIH2012 menu it just sits generating but nothing happens.

I've just sent you a PM.
Apart from the obvious, that the Acronis download centre refused you access, this could also be caused by something on your system preventing access, such as a registry setting, or a corruption within the 2012 (perhaps a new download of 2012 and repair install will solve the problem) and of course the firewall.
Which part of the world do you live in, just in case it is a problem with a local Acronis download server?
When you run 2012 do you have Admin permissions?
What OS are you using? I had a similar problem once in TIH 2011 not generating a report in Vista 64bit and W7 64bit.

Thanks Colin. I am running W7 Ultimate 64 bit, 6 GB RAM Vaio VGN-Z as Admin. Firewall and antivirus disabled on my NIS2012. Live in South Carolina but I am presently for few days in Seattle, WA. Redownloaded latest build of ATIH2012 and repared installation but no dice. As a desperation move I installed new sync you sent me and, voila all is well now. No more nagging about the new sync version and, I can generate system report as well. There has to be some problem with the download server. One should not go through this, tha's for sure. Thanks again Colin for saving the day!

I can say that it's definitely not caused by NIS2012. I have it on 3 machines and ATI2012 updated itself fine on all 3 machines without having to disable NIS2012.

Btw, what is tms.dll of version 1.4.0.1 ? It doesn't look like belonging to TI 2012 (it would've had version 5545 then) and not a windows standard one (7600/7601).

This is not caused by TI2012 but the problem is The updated Acronis Sync Agent and then it is also a problem of TI2012. When only one user have this problem, ok, but so many user, never.
I installed the system new only with TI2012, the TI2012 is working. But after updating of this Agent, no more. So this a reproducable bug for me.

According to various web sources it is an unknown file which is known to prevent some system processes from running.
Depending on which site you read, it varies between being a malware under the name tms.dll or installed by mystery software. According to one site it "belongs to product TopMarketSearch® Client Connection Utility and was developed by company Top Market Search Ltd."

I installed the update on 2 machines with Norton installed and no issues. However Norton notified me of high handle usage by the file syncagentsvr.exe (TrueImage Sync Agent Service). I open Process Explorer and this file appears to open a new handle at the rate of about 1 per second. I am up to 11,000 and counting at the moment.

Same problem here with the number of handles. I was expecting the update to fix that (I have turned the sync agent off). Doesn't look like this is the case...

Hi Colin,
I just ran full scan with Malwarebytes and it did not find any trojans or malware. Likewise I ran NIS2010 full scan and nothing. Everything seems to be running OK.

I'm holding back on an automatic download & update as I don't really trust my connection enough for this to be a stable experience. I always prefer to download updates directly so that I have a hard copy to file in my archives folder. Is there a link for a direct download? I still probably won't install until this thread has come up with some relatively universal solution to problems described, but at least I'll have something to experiment with in a True Image bootable VHD image.

Same for me and NO, I don't have Norton!
Installing Sync Agent gives me a whole round of boot Blue Screens of Death

So happy someone JUST downloaded the "Sync Agent" and it installed properly.
It's a lie, unless you can send us all the file (Sync Agent) you downloaded. I have tried to find the file at 'Acronis' to download outside of the ATI. It seems to not exists.
So, you must mean the AUTO Self-Updating process of ATI, regarding the "Sync Agent" component, worked for you.
I have been sitting here for about three hours (No, Task Manager shows it has NOT locked up yet) watching the green bar at the 40-50% mark.
I may just ask for my money back for this 2012 version... never any issues with 2011, other than it takes like ALL DAY and MOST of the next to use the 'cloud' back-up process. The hard drive IS a little under 1 TB, but the amount of used space so far is still under 200 gigs. ALMOST TWO FULL DAYS to image on-line... sheesh!!!
