Nonstop Backup - How to monitor Backup remotely
Hello Everybody!
I want to use TIH2012 in a home office of one of our employees.
The Nonstop-Backup method would be great for that.
How can i stay informed that Backup ist running and working properly?
Getting an daily log with backed up files would be nice.
Greetings

Hello Yana,
thank you for your advise - that bringts me to an other question:
can i do a combination of scheduled backup by night (for getting a log) and then nonstop backup while the pc is used (for having data backed-up nonstop)? Storing the backup to one location - because of saving backup-space.
One general question to nonstop backup: How long does the backup last (how many days in the past / how many file-versions / how many GBs)...
... there must be a limit.

Absolutely, that's the most reasonable scenario, I think.

It depends, actually, on the settings, machine usage, etc. Here's how it works in general:
NSB creates an initial backup, and then proceeds with creating a snapshot of the machine every 5 minutes, comparing its data with the data that has already been backed up. Should some major changes be made to the drive, it will immediately back them up. If the backup takes more than 5 minutes, then the next snapshot will be created 5 minutes later after the new backup creation.
I understand that this information might not address all your questions, but at least it should provide you with a bit more clear picture of what's going on and how it works.
Let me know if something's confusing you or you have any additional questions, I will be glad to provide you with necessary answers.
Thank you.
