E0064003: The error was encountered while the installation.

Thread needs solution

Gee talk about doing something totally moronic... I downloaded and installed the Seagate Diskwizard software which is based on Acronis TI just to see the differences between it an TI 10 which I normally use. Now that I've done that TI 10 doesn't work at all. So I managed to uninstall the Seagate program, and I thought I had TI uninstalled too. I've run the Acronis cleanup utility in hopes that this would cure my problem, but it doesn't. So now what is happening is everytime I try to install Acronis TO 10 I get the following error message:

E00640003: The error was encountered while the installation.

Acronis installation program encountered error #1610: "The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personel (0xFFF0)

code = 8007064A
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8A6"

A possible reason might be that you do not have enough priveledges. Please check the installation troubleshooting section of the product manual.

That is the entire contents of the error message verbatim. The only thing I haven't tried yet is booting in safe mode and running the cleanup utility again..... I'm going to try that and see if that helps. I'll post again the results.

Ok nevermind I've gotten it fixed. Wound up using System Restore and rolled it back to a point before installing the Seagate program....

I am getting the same error as the fellow above, I try to re-install True image 10 and it gives the 1610 error. Have tried everything except the sys restore, however it is not an option I can use. Have had this concern for about 2 months and have since up-graded to Vista and then back to my XP. The same problem exists, however thanks to the True image back-up I had archived I was able to do the return to XP. Acronis is a great product and I wish to get back up and running. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Joe Ballard

Hello all,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

I'll do everything possible to fix the issue with the installation.

1. First of all, please make sure that the installation file is not corrupted by checking its MD5. Could you, please, do the following?

- Download a free checksum utility from http://www.irnis.net/files/xcsci.exe

- Unpack and run the application. Browse and select the installation package you have downloaded;

- Click the "Start" button;

- The MD5 value for Acronis True Image 10 Home (English) build #4942 must be 64ef3274e803a85042671f109376ee8c. If the value you have differs, you need to re-download the installation file again.

2. Download the Windows CleanUp utility, install and run it, select all Acronis products hit Remove;

3. Please delete all files in \Documents and Settings\[Account Name]\Local Settings\Temp\ folder. Please note, that the folder may be hidden, you can open it by issuing Start -> Run -> "%temp%" command without a quotes. If some files cannot be deleted, please reboot your computer and repeat deleting.

Try to install the software from scratch.

If the issue still persists, please gather MSI installation log as described at this KB article and attach it to your reply to this thread.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
