Run this task...vs Nonstop?

Thread needs solution

Home 2010

Since my image target is a shared home computer, I cannot run the Nonstop option.

I'm wondering what the argument against running with the option "run this task every 2 hours until the end of the day" as a substitute to running Nonstop?

The key benefit of Non-stop backup is the monitoring of what needs to be backed up and the automated consolidation. The downside is the lack of control (retention, volume, frequency, ...)

You can definitely use a regular disk and partition or file backup running as an incremental backup on a high frequency. Choose auto-cleaning and keep only a limited of backup chains.

You can also trigger the backups with Windows Task Scheduler and literally run the backup every Xmn if you want to.

No, I don't use any longer because it failed to restore my system disk once. Maybe it has been fixed since then. I personally don't trust it and I prefer using a regular disk and partition backup.

For content, I was first using Genie Timeline Pro for frequent backup but, just like with ATI NSB, there is no way to do automatic cleanup or any retention rules. So I switched to SyncBack SE and I am very happy with the feature set, performance, etc.
