Macbook version 2.1, How can i run the Acronis Boot media CD, using BartPE, but without a Windows OS disk ?
Hello Members
I've just purchased Acronis True Image 2012, on the presumption that the Boot media CD part of the software would be able to load onto my Macbook (version type 2.1) Intel Core duo ), most other Linux based OS's (LiveCD), if not all, that i've tried loading suffer no errors, and the Acronis Boot media uses a Linux build.
The error i'm getting when i run the disk is below...
1:
2:
Choose which Boot disk_
..but my keyboard makes no input, and i think this error just shows me that the CD isn't bootable.
Also there is a BartPE plugin on the Acronis website via my account, but i've read other forum posts stating that a either a Microsoft Windows installation, or MS Windows disk is required to create, and use this plugin.
Seeing as Acronis is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux file types, you'd have expected the Boot Media would have been compatible with the hardware that uses these Hard drive formats.
Is there a simple solution to the problem i've encountered, or can i claim a refund for the purchase?
kind regards
Livio

It's not declared as compatible with Mac. It doesn't support file systems used by Mac OS (i.e. HFS+) , so you will be able to backup it only sector by sector. There are also peculiarities in the Apple's EFI implementation and hybrid GPT-MBR scheme, so Windows in Bootcamp is not supported either. http://kb.acronis.com/content/1746
