Failed to read MBR sector in Clone.

Thread needs solution

I have Windows 7 64 bit.

I am trying to clone my system drive to an SSD (smaller than my system drive but with plenty of space) using a USB connection. The objective is to then replace the current system drive with the SSD.
I started the CLONE wizard but after reboot, Acronis came up with "Failed to read MBR sector" and then rebooted again without doing anything. I've checked both disks using Properties in Windows Explorer and they don't show any problems.

Did you boot from a CD-ROM iso image of Acronis or just run Acronis from the OS on the HDD to be cloned? If the later, there are known issues with 2012 and the former method is recomended. If the former, there are reported issues with this as well, but folks have gotten it to work. I have no experience cloning 2012 iso across a USB, so someone with experience will have to chime-in.
