can not lauch console from desktop
I installed acronis agent and console on the LINUX server and I could launch the console from the linux server. When I tried to launch the console from my desktop by export the DISPLAY variable, I got the following error and the console could not be launched. This is very inconvenient.
export DISPLAY=my desktop ip address
$ /usr/sbin/acronis_console
No XRender extension found. Work in emulation mode.

Hello Ken,
Thank you for the provided information.
Probably you use Linux box as a desktop. Could you please connect to the machine with Acronis Management Console installed using ‘SSH -Y’ command and run Acronis Backup & Recovery Management Console by issuing ‘acronis_console’ command. Does it make any difference?
It seems that you don't have XRender libraries installed on your desktop. Please also try to install its libraries for your particular Linux distribution.
Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless.
Thank you.

Hi,
I have just installed with success the Acronis Backup and Restore 10 for Linux on my virtual Red Hat Linux server 5.3 (x86_64) with kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen on a Xen server 5.5. The installation worked fine. But I run /usr/sbin/acronis_console, I get the message:
No XRender extension found. Work in emulation mode.
I have searched for an XRender extension on rpmseek/sourceforge ... but could not find the right package. Which extension do i need ? I have seen a lot of packages on rpmseek but which one do i need ?
Can anyone help me ?
I used ssh to connect to the linux box from my windows workstation

Seems like I have the same problem, I have installed BackupRecoveryServerLinux.11345_s_en.i686.
When trying to run Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (e.g. from the desktop icon or from terminal), a popup window display the following error message: "To be able to run Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Management Console install XRender Library on the machine."
libXrender-0.9.1-3.1.i386 is already installed.
System info:
Linux myhostname 2.6.18-8.el5xen #1 SMP Fri Jan 26 14:42:21 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
snapapi26, 0.7.47, 2.6.18-8.el5xen, i686: installed
gcc version 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-52)

kernel-devel-2.6.18-128.1.16.el5.i686
kernel-xen-devel-2.6.18-8.el5.i686
What can cause this problem?

I got the same issue, too.
I just installed xrender-0.8.3-0.2.el4.test.i386.rpm on my RedHat EL 4 x86 system.

Hello all,
Thank you for posting your questions, I will be happy to help.
The root of the issue is that our FOX libraries depend on XRender libraries in Linux. Xrender cannot be activated in some cases (the issue is under investigation at the moment) and Acronis Backup & Recovery crashes. Our developers added some code to avoid the crash, but the performance will be very slow.
Please note, that the issue happens also when you connect to a Linux machine through VNC, which is used by Xen hypervisor. Basically, almost all customers trying to launch the console in a Linux guest installed on top of Xen will be affected.
We may be able to include some changes in the Fox library. The fix may be available for the future updates or for the next version of the program.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.
