Installation failure after registry clean

Thread needs solution

Following a registry cleaning, I can no longer use Acronis True Image Home 10. I cannot Remove, Reinstall or Repair.

In all cases, I get the same installation error: "Installation Incomplete" followed by "The installation was interrupted before Acronis True Image Home could be installed. You need to restart the installer and try again."

Numerous additional attempts all have the same result.

Everything worked properly prior to the registry cleaning which also created problems with a couple other programs. But all of those responded properly to a reinstall.

Windows XP Pro. SP-3. Pentium 4 with lots of memory and plenty of drive space.

I really want to get back to my regular backup routine.

Thanks.

I'd try this first:

If you created a restore point before cleaning the registry, then restore the Restore Point.
If not but you created a backup before mucking with the reg, then restore the backup.
If neither of those appllies in your case then I'd try this:

eun the ATI cleanup utilitiy if they have one for your version else manually clean any entries with "acronis", "trueimage" or "fomatik" from registry, then delete Acronis from under C:\progrm files and C:program files\common files

Reboot
go to Docs and settings\username\local settings\temp and delete everything.reboot

Then run msconfig, on Services tab, hide all microsoft services and then disable all, then on startup tab, disable all. then apply then restart,
Then run the installer.
reboot
if proglram seems to be installed okay, then run msconfig, on firt tab select Normal Startup, apply, restart and you should then be off and running.
