True Image Home 11 and Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit)

Thread needs solution

I have problems running Acronis True Image Home 11.0 (Build 8.105) on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. After starting a full Acronis backup Windows 7 restarts completely after about one minute. Is this a known problem? Can you provide a solution?

Kind regards

Acronis doesn't list ver. 11 as being compatible with Win 7 - neither 32 nor 64 bit. But the bootable Rescue CD will do Backups - not sure if Restores with the CD will be successful, though.

The latest version, 2010, is compatible with Win 7.

Thank you for your reply.

This means that there is no way to make True Image 11.0 work with Windows 7? And Acronis will not provide any updates??? Does Acronis provide an update to Win7 compatible version 2010 which does not cost too much?

Per http://kb.acronis.com/content/3699 TI 11 looks to be eligible for the upgrade pricing to 2010.

Honestly, I think support for a new OS is more than what is usually expected of a free update, especially for something like ATI that must necessarily tie tightly to the OS.

Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Karl Hahn, most probably the support of Windows 7 will not be added to Acronis True Image Home 11. However, you are able to upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010 for reduced price as owner of an old version. Upgrade is available here.

Thank you.

I have just bought Windows 7 and now find some 12 months after purchasing Acronis True Image Home that I have to purchase a web "upgrade" which is twice as expensive as buying the program outright on a dvd from Amazon. Exactly the same thing happened when I "upgraded" (we really must find a new word for new versions that promise more, but deliver less, functionality) from XP to Vista. That time I only found out that I needed the new version of Acronis after a crash. This time the Windows 7 backup utility is as good as most people need, including me, and I don't think I will be buying Acronis again, and I will advise others similarly. I think three years of free updates are about right, and most other software firms do offer this, and do include OS updates eg Canon, Nuance, Sony etc.

I agree with Charles Cope.

Windows 7 is Vista improved. True Image 11 works with Vista so Acronis should support True Image 11 with a free update to make it compatible with Windows 7.
It is a low-grade way of money-making by Acronis. I am customer off too. I cannot afford to pay again for the application I already paid for and that every 1 or 2 years.

I will look for a customer-friendlier solution.

Antonius.

I agree with you Antonius. I will look for a customer-friendlier solution rather than buying new upgrade Acronis.

Having just upgraded 2 of my three computers to Windows 7 from XP I am disappointed to learn that my TI ver 11 will not function with the new OS even for restoring or exploring other partitions. In spite of the Windows "compatibility program analyzer" claiming compatibility it just is not. It is not the fault of Acronis as I realize it is a completely different OS. Where Acronis have lost me as a customer is that when I attempted to purchase their latest upgrade version which they claim will work with Win 7, I noticed that they now only allow it for use on ONE computer only. Having previously upgraded every three years or so, I refuse to be a victim of this kind of corporate greed and shall look elsewhere.
