Windows 7 don´t boot after restore
First, I am really sorry, my english is not very good.
I am using True Image Home 2012 (+ pack included)
I´ll try to explain my problem
I Boot from a sata2 raid using windows 7 64bits (PCI Adaptec controller) ... And I am trying to boot from a new sata3 ssd disk attached on a new controller (STARTECH PCIe)
So... things I have tried:
booting from acronis (USB) I have restore a full backup in the new SSD disk...
I have changed the boot sequence in the motherboard Bios and I have tried to boot... Windows 7 don´t boot
So , I thought it could be because there are new hardware... so... I should need the plus pack... I have bought it... Installed, created a new USB Acronis Boot with the plus pack included... I I tried the same but using universal acronis restore. After That... Windows 7 don´t boot in new SSD disk....
So, I thought... it could be the new controller or the new disk... I did a Fresh Install in the new disk from the windows 7 CD.. and It works perfect... and I can Boot... (but obviusly... is not what I want because It could be 5 o 6 days to install everything as I have in my original windows 7.... ).
I have try some bizarres things... like booting only with the new hardisks installed...
but no luck... Everything seem ok doing the restore.. but windows 7 don´t boot....
after 8 hours doing restores... I don´t know what to do...
what I am trying right now... is make a new backup ... but in this backup I have installed the new harddisk controller and the new SSD disk... (The original backup is before install the new harddisk controller)... so... no hardware change when I´ll do the restore... only boot secuence will change...
Please, please Help
I could not be so dificult to restore in a new hard disk....
THANKS A LOT!

First of all :) Hi. This is my first post. And sorry for my bad english :) it's not my native language.
Same problem here. Windows 7 don´t boot after restore. I,ve updated my setup with 2nd SSD drive and made RAID 0.
I Boot from Acronis (USB) and I've restored a full backup in the new SSD array... and Windows 7 can't boot after restore.
I've noticed that True Image want to be smarter than the user but... - i don't know why.
I want restore my entire disc in the same way as it was backuped. I don't want Acronis to change my drive letter of system partition and boot.ini to the various drive letters.
While restoring I have to point where i want to restore my MBR, system reserved partition and main system partition.
MBR (except MBR ERROR 3 <-- corrected with FixMBR) and system reserved partition restoring OK but main system partition is changing from C to for example F or other letter.
True Image show some info that my registry and boot info will be automatically adjusted according to my config while choosing where system partition should be restored. In fact this adjustment mess up everything and prevent restored disk from boot.
7 hours of trying and nothing. Even restored to single drive don't end with success.
So my question is how to restore backuped drive to make it bootable ??

It sounds like you are changing the controller mode between the backup and the restore. This can definately cause booting problems. The RAID drivers need to either be installed when the backup is created or you will need to use UR along with the drivers when restoring to have the system updated.
The drive letters assigned when booted to the TI CD are often different from those used in Windows. Just make sure to select the correct physical partition and ignore the letters.
When you fixed the MBR did you use bootrec /fixmbr? I ask because you mention "FixMBR" by itself and also the "boot.ini" file, which Windows 7 doesn't use. If you used fixmbr from an XP CD you won't be able to boot into Windows 7.
Was the System Reserved partition restored as Active?

I used bootrec.exe /fixmbr from Windows 7 instalation disc cmd. Strange thing is that I couldn't restore backup on that drive which was orginaly backaped on ahci mode. System reserved partition is active, mbr restore is set to right disc, system partition is primary and not active. After restore i still have MBR error 3 or 2 and after correction mbr Windows doesn't boot.
It's better to restore on unpartitioned drive or na formated drive or it doesn't matter.
