Moving files to ASZ?
Hey all.. I set up Acronis Secure Zone, but because it is "secure", I cant get any files into it. By this i mean i have an HDD image file that was created before I configured ASZ, and i want to move it into ASZ but ASZ wont let me - at least by drag and drop. Is there any way to get the tib into ASZ without having to recreate the image file in Acronis?
Thanks in advance.

The SZ was originally built into ati as a way of people with only one hdisk to be able to make (partition or file) backups. It's remained in ati ever since. I'm pretty sure most ati vets avoid it for the reasons Pat points out.
If you really want extra security for your backups, put them on an external disk that you can safely, physcally lock away in a cabinet somewhere -- if you want full bore security keep at least one in another bldg in case of fire.
If you want to be able to back up without using another hdisk, I urge you to reconsider; if you use use and SZ and you hdisk goes wonky, you won't have any acces to the SZ. Disks are very cheap and the expenditure well worth considering for a good backup protocol.

Just create a new image with the secure zone as the destination.
I am frequently disappointed with the anti-secure zone comments that promulgate these pages. The comments usually come from those who have never used a secure zone and are just repeating adverse comments that they have read.
I have used secure zones for many years from the old version 8 up to my current version 2011. I use it on a seperate internal hard drive which gets over many of the perceived weaknesses of having it on the drive being backed up.
Apart from the increased security the zone provides the simplest method of providing automatic scheduling and management of backup images. In fact once the backup task has been set there is no need to visit the excruciating 2011 Gui ever again.
For peace of mind I swap over main hard drives once a week and restore from the latest fresh daily image using the recovery CD. In terms of proof of Acronis security this put me streets ahead of those who have never run a full restore.
NB restoring to a swapped HDD is a totally risk free procedure.

I have used ati since version 8 and have experience with the so-called secure zone. Sometimes, when we disparage or otherwise speak of the SZ we make it a point to mention that you in particiular have found a use for it with which you are happy. Views differ.
