SyncMe - What is that?
I updated to the latest build of ATI2012 and agreed to update to the latest Sync Agent when it prompted me to.
Now, I have a new sync job called "SyncMe". This appeared out of nowhere. It is syncing "C:\Users\\SyncMe" to Acronis Online Storage. The folder itself is empty.
What's more, I cannot delete this job. There is no delete option available.
What is this job and how can I get rid of it?

Indeed a way to get rid of yet more rubbish installed by TIH unless I actually use it. Does no one actually take any notice of the many complaints of bloat and poorly working elements clogging up out computers that most DO NOT what.
Can I just reject the agent update as I don't needed it?

John7,
If you aren't going to use the Sync feature - period, then you can disable the sync service in 'services.msc'.
Out of interest, where do you see this new SyncMe, as I don't appear to have that option?

I wonder if you get this job if you were unfortunate enough to buy an online storage subscription. I did which I regret. Long story short, I uploaded 44GB of data which got mysteriously deleted on the server. I'm back to 0 (even though ATI2012 still says I have 44GB stored with 346 versions).

Thanks disabled it now. If only there were a viewer you could install in place of the full program as I just use the boot program for backups and if needed restore-much more reliable.

John7,
If you are just using Online Backup, then I think you can still download just the OLB stand-alone software - you could for 2011, I haven't checked for 2012. You'll find it on the OLB part of your account page, if it's available.

I AM DISGUSTED!
I agree with Marc--Acronis has no business putting a "SyncMe" feature into the program forcing online storage! I purchased 2 licenses for local synchronization and after 2 hours of "Tech Support" the feature still does not work! Each PC says, "Sync completed" and guess what? NOTHING synced!
If this is not fixed right I will be looking for an alternate program and cease doing business with Acronis. Then I will notify my Credit Card that Acronis FALSLEY advertised a feature that DOES NOT work and reverse the charges. Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!
And not another meaningless "I'm sorry" from techs who do not know their job and do not listen to customers!
Everyone give them a week and reverse the charge!

I'm confused. You seem to say you don't want to use SyncMe, yet you will ask for a refund and find another application unless SyncMe is fixed. If you don't want to use it anyway, why would you need it fixed and why would it matter if it were still part of ATI? If you bought ATI for it's backup functionality, and if that works acceptably for you, why would you dump it just because it includes some other feature you don't care about?

If you disable Sync in WMI be in for some surprizes. I disabled it, and also tried setting it to manual. Problem: Cannot backup e-mails. Get message: Error while opening Windows live mail database. Make sure Windows Live mail is closed and all its current processes are complete (in the separate window or notification area). Time for backing up 50 e-mails: over five minutes; it usually takes five seconds and never finishes because I get the error message. First of all, if I don't ask for it I don't want it. My needs are very simple. I use my computer for home use. I only want two features: 1) Backup HD so I can restore to a previous point of time 2) Clone HD, so if one HD fails I will have a backup. I have disabled nonstop backup services in WMI and it does not seem to affect anything. I previously disabled nonstop backup, Sync Agent and Scheduler 2 Service. Backups of HD performed, but would not validate. Enabled services, end of problem. The amount of time I am taking to educate myself on this latest version is not worth it when there are a half a dozen free programs that would do the job.

=> Scheduler 2 Service
try to re-enable just that one. I think it is used for other than sync and on-line. But could be wrong.

Scheduler2 runs tasks including manual ones. I was surprised when the OP said imaging still worked with that disabled.

The OP as in me? I just asked what that "SyncMe" job was. I haven't disabled anything yet.

Sorry, I must be thread confused - aposter in another thread stated they'd stopped the service and all still worked apart from validation.

I agree with other posters here, I don't want SyncMe, I don't want to use the subscription service...I bought the product I should be able to delete the SyncMe job...program bloat!

The easy way to turn off Sync off is to get into Acronis, click your e-mail in the upper right side and then click "log off." Sync won't work unless you type your e-mail and password in. You can tell if it is off by viewing the log. If nothing shows under Sync then it is off. I would not turn it off by disabling in WMI since I could not back up e-mails and could not validate system backups. I did disable non-stop backup in WMI. Since then I can backup, validate and restore. This version is not user friendly, but for me, so far I have finally been able to get it to work. These programs should not be set to "on" by default, but they are.

Wow.. this Forum is answering a lot of questions. I bought 2012 after a disastrous experience with V10 and only because of the Sync possibility. My system locked up and I spent half a day with support in India without much success and ready to ask for a refund. But I noted a new version issued a few days ago and downloaded it. SYNCME appeared! I didn't understand it (nothing in the documentation). But now I'm informed it is needed for online SYNCing. I DO NOT WANT online syncing. I have my own network which I was assured would function WITHOUT syncing online! Why is this necessary? And what on earth are these folks at Acronis thinking? Do they not Beta test their changes that seem to occur "on the fly". Where is the customer input to their testing? Honestly, does anyone know if I can operate sync within my network, without Syncme and without online storage?

.... oh.. an additional question - How on earth do I delete the one Sync that I am using to test the system? Surely it cannot be true that it cannot be deleted. Because when I tried to add an additional Sync which contains the one test sync I started with, it would let me because it won't let us sync a folder that contains a sync (that I was planning to delete)!
... Something tells me I am not going to like the answer.. but please try, OK?

I'm not sure what you are intending when you say add a sync, but you need to make a new sync folder, you can't add a sync to an existing sync folder.
So if I am understanding you correctly, you want to have Sync to PC_A and Sync to PC_B but with different contents you need to setup two sync folders.
At the moment the catalogue and PC's used are synced via the web, the data itself isn't unless you are performing a remote sync or to the cloud sync.

picture this: Folder A is in my current small sync. Folder A is a subfolder of Folder B. I want to sync folder B but I'm told I cannot sync it because Folder A is already sync'd. So I want to delete Sync that syncs Folder A to two other computers then build sync that syncs Folder B.

You can't have a sub folder separately synched under the main sync folder, you need to make an additional main sync folder.
I'm not at home at the moment, but can post a snipshot of what I mean when I get home.

Thanks for your reply. I had already discovered the issue you just mentioned. Going back one step to clarify - I needed to test the sync so chose a very small folder to sync with three computers. This folder (call it folder A) was a subfolder of 'favorites' and, being small, enabled a 'quick test' (or so I thought. After testing, I wanted to delete it so I could sync my Favorites folder (call it folder B). That's when I discovered what you reported above. I've tried endlessly to find a way to delete the small sync of folder A, now sync'd to three computers, but I've not been told how to do it. The Techs keep turning me in circles and telling me what I already know but don't answer the question - HOW DO I DELETE THE SYNC THAT HOLD FOLDER A?
If you can help, please do. I know I'm going to need to delete syncs in the future (having happily worked a while with syncs until MS killed it for XP). Without syncs, the Acronis software is not worth my while so I need to get this right. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Alan,
Do you not get a remove option when you right click on the sync? You have to stop the sync first.

On one of my systems it deleted the sync action but does not remove it from the list - interesting.
Solved, to ensure that a sync is removed from the list the second sync location must be available to 2012.

Is is possible to disable the SyncMe feature, or at least ensure that it will not run? I do not want any of my data on the Acronis servers.

1. Don't set up a sync.
2. Just don't log in.
3. If you really don't trust anything - disable the service.
