TI2010 freezes when editing task

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I've created some backup jobs which I would like to modify again. I enter the Schedule tasks list and select Edit using the item's context menu.

Using the tab on the left side I navigate first to Backup options and would like to switch to Automatic consolidation. Result: TI freezes and never comes back.

OK, next try: I again try to edit this job, first enter Comments and would like to switch to Automatic consolidation. Result: TI freezes and never comes back.

OK, third try: I enter the job details, switch to Comments, afterwards to Backup options and last to Automatic consolidation. Result: TI freezes and never comes back.

This is very annoying! Please fix this ASAP and not in a few month!

Hello Micky,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please let us investigate the issue and collect the following information?

- Download the file from here;
- Run the downloaded file
- Send us the files created.
The gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.
Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes.

Also, please do the following:
- Reproduce the problem (application crash);
- Do not close the "Application has stopped working" window;
- Run Task Manager (press Ctrl-Shift-Esc buttons);
- Go to "Processes" tab and right-click on the crashed process;
- Select "Create Dump File" item from the menu;
- Pick up the .DMP file created and send it to us;
- Open Start->Run (or press Windows-R buttons) type "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive" string without quotes and hit Enter key
- After that you will see a folder (or a few folders), the name of which starts with "Report"
- Please send us Report.wer file from the last created folder
Please note that you may add the two collected files into rar or zip archive file.

Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

Thank you.

Same issue but sometimes the edit works, other times it freezes the program.

Also, if the command does a system sleep (for example, in after a backup is complete script, the entire computer hangs with a blank screen, no keyboard or mouse and takes two or three hardware restarts before it returns to normal operation (windows 7 reports a program problem to Microsoft).

Are there limitations on what the pre and post commands can do?

Freeze or very slow?

Hi,

I upgraded from TI 11 to TI 2010 yesterday, and TI 2010 seemed to freeze on task edit, or on creation of task when selecting the secure zone as a backup zone. As I had just upgraded, I suspected an issue with the secure zone. I uninstalled TI, cleaned the uninstall, reinstalled TI 2010, removed and recreated the secure zone.

I no longer experience a freeze, but editing a task is very very slow... 3 minutes to go from a click on edit to the edit screen opening ! I cannot revert to the previous situation (TI 11 secure zone) but I suspect what I thought was a freeze was actually an even slower processing.

As I don't edit tasks daily, this is sustainable (as long as the tasks are executed, which is still to be seen - I upgraded last night), but remains very annoying.

Hope my 2 cents help identify - and ultimately solve - the issue,

Regards,

Alain

I uninstalled/reinstalled and I am able to edit tasks now.  But, it didn't resolve another issue I have, which is getting errors on a Backup of Application Settings.

Did you loose your tasks afterwards? Are the tasks still there?

Thanks Alain,

I do not use SecureZone, just a plain partition backup to a network share, perhaps this is the cause, too, perhaps TI tries to detect sthg on this share when starting editing - one never knows.

You lose the tasks (sort of).  The uninstall does not delete them though - but they don't show up when you start Acronis back up after reinstallation.  So you have to recreate them.  And you will probably get "No such Script" errors that will show up when it attempts to run a former script.  If you get this error, go here to resolve.

I'm not using SecureZone either.

Done. Ticket is [Case 00323997] TI2010 freezes while trying to edit a backup job/task [ ref:00D3Zcb.500578QEJ:ref ]

However I wasn't able to attach the DMP file because the size, also packed, somehow exceeded the maximum allowed attachment size. OTH I couldn't find any current WER file at the mentioned location - I guess since Windows 7 didn't reported a frozen application, there wasn't any created after terminating TI.

Hi all,

I believe my problem is solved. It seems to have been indeed related to the secure zone.

I chated with the Acronis technical support, and there was no immediate solution. The person I had on the line suggested that I delete and recreate the securezone, which I didn't want to retry right away as I had my latest backup on the secure zone. After having created a new backup, this is what I did:

  1. Remove the securezone (after having made a backup on another drive)
  2. Launch a fast wipe disk (using Acronis)
  3. After 5 minutes, cancelled the wipe disk. I just wanted to make sure there was no way for Acronis 2010 to see this had been a securezone before. Don't know if this is necessary
  4. Recreate the securezone
I noticed on step 4 that the securezone no longer occupied the whole space. May have been a boundaries issue. Maybe a resize of the securezone would have been enough.
Hope this helps some of you.
Regards,
Alain

Have you had a response from technical support?

Unfortunately, not yet - but to be fair it has been just a few hours since I've opened a ticket.

Now, I would like to push this thread because I haven't heard anything from support for about 20 days now.

I retried to contact support on October, 23. however still no answer or feedback on how to solve this very annoying issue.

In the meantime I've reinstalled Windows 7 Pro (32bit) and of course TI2010, too, but I'm still facing those freezes while editing a backup task. Of course I must not mention that I've recreated all backup tasks, too.

So where is the Acronis support? Retired already?
