Why is the default restore date today?

Thread needs solution

I've just restored a large folder containing many files created over a number of years. It took almost 40mins to restore, and when finished I was dismayed to discover that every file had today's date.
After a bit of snooping around I found that "Set current date and time for restored files" in "Additional settings" was ticked by default. Why?
Surely, when restoring a file or folder, you want the original date/times to be restored too, not today's. I can understand requesting today's date as an option, but not as a default. Am I missing something?

No, sad to say just another tidbit that Acronis expects the user know to check in advance (sad)
Maybe you want to correct the option and do another restore if the dates are important.

The dates were important so that's exactly what I did.
After successfully restoring the original dates I restarted the program and saw that the option was still ticked.
Is there a way to permanently remove that tick?

No. But you can bet if Acronis did change the default, some folks would object on that side of the fence. So, the thing is to be aware of the option and the need to set it before restoring.
