Problem with VMware and .tib files

Thread needs solution

Hello, I am disappointed that when I bought True Image Home 2009 and True Image Home 2010 my .tib files are no longer recognised by VMware 6.5 Workstation. Why is this? I never had problems with earlier versions of TrueImage!!!!! How do I create a VM with the .tib files that 2009/2010 created. I am really upset. Do I need to spend even more money on another version of TI? Bob

Bob,

I just went through a similar issue. I wanted to take .tib files and use the Vcenter Vmware converter to create VMDK files. I verified that the convertor worked on TIS (True Image Server Echo) files. In a support session with Acronis support, they informed me that you cannot convert AR10 (Advanced Backup and Recovery 10 Server) files with VMWARE convertor.

However, you can create VMDK files using either the bootable media or the application itself. I poked around the Home version and can't find any option to create a Virtual Machine. You might contact Acronis and ask them to send you bootable media that will provide the ability to create a VMDK file until the problem is resolved.

Not sure why they would have killed the ability to use the VMWARE conversion tool. It was very easy to use and worked great.
