Where does the real desktop icon go??
Updated 2 computers. Yes bought 2 updates. The cool desktop ICON is gone. It's not in the computers.
All I have is a white page with the Acronis True Image Home 2012 type below on the desk top
Anyway to get it back?
Thanks,Dave

I too have the same issue. To really change in change icon first change to another icon, click apply. Then one can change back to "original/default" icon.

Also, if your install goes wrong, you can end up without the Icon showing in the notification area. For me, I "fixed" this by running msconfig, unsinstalling, running the cleaner, manually scribbing the registry and Program Files directories, then reinstall.

To get the original icon back, right click on the desktop icon for ATIH2012, then select the one at the upper left of the ten available icons ( the computer screen with a blue arrow) click okay, then back out of the windows. It worked for me. I now have the original icon restored. I went back into the acronis progarm files, and saw that theTruImagLauncher still had a generic icon, but I didn't see a way to change that one.

After installing TIM 2012 this happens with every desktop icon and any that I add. Tried what you did but doesn't work. Also right click on icon and select properties and click on change icon, this doesn't work either.

First select a different icon (for example the second), close the properies dialog; the shortcut will now have the new (second) icon. Then go to properties again and select the first icon. If you try the first icon immediately or change the icon twice without closing the properties dialog in between then Windows doesn't see a difference since the first icon was already selected and doesn't refresh.
This is for each shortcut, so if you did the desktop you have to repeat it for the icon in the menu (if you care about it).
