Backup completed with errors/Failed to open data stream
# 33 of my 2012 Acronis True Image Home backup says "failed to open data stream" after doing a backup. Line # 38 says Operation has completed with errors. I have ran chkdsk/r and found no errors. I am attaching the Acronis report file referred by Anton in a prior post. Can you or anyone help me figure out what is wrong and what to do. FYI, I added Kaspersky Pure in November and have ran several backup since then and prior to this one and they ran ok. I have version 6131 and when I tried to install the new build 6154 it said I had latest version???

Don't mean to sound stupid but what do you mean by creating new task.

The backup that is failing is a task in your backup list when you use ATI. Create a new backup task (a new disk and partition backup, file backup).
What is the type of backup that is failing?

Forgot last night to report. I followed what you said plus did the chkdsk/r plus deleted the archives.xml file that was mentioned somewhere in the knowledge base section of the Acronis Help. I deleted the task that was set up and then re set up and did a multiple partition backup and it worked fine.

Charles,
If you are curious about any disk errors, there was a report created and it can be found in the Events section under Application.

I too have the same problem. If I delete my 'task' wont all my backups be removed at the same time? So, I lose all my protection? this is not the first time I have this problem. What is the point of keeping multiple full and incremental backups if every few weeks I have to delete them because ATIH2012 gets confused?

Before you delete your task, move the TIB files you want to keep to another directory on the same disk (to avoid a long file copy). Then, delete the task. ATI will complain it couldn't delete some files (the ones you moved), just insist. Then, set up a new task.
The fact that a backup or its associated TIB files are not listed in the UI doesn't prevent restoring this backup.
