Can't Clone
When I try to clone my hard drive to a new SSD on a USB it won't boot back into the clone program, the laptop boots back into windows. I've used automatic and manual clone and it starts to load up the Acronis menu to start the process, but then goes to windows. The new drive is initialized and formatted.

Martin,
Create a full disk and partition backup of your current disk and store that on a usb disk. See here for instructions:

So why can't I just clone my old drive to the new SSD via USB? That's what I bought the program for. I've done it in the past and it worked fine

What we're saying is that Backup is a much better solution.

Martin,
If you are trying to boot the clone when the clone is still in the USB enclosure, it will not boot via USB and this is a Windows limitation.
Remove the clone from the enclosure and insert disk into the laptop replacing the original laptop disk.
