How can I get rid of Bootwiz?
While looking for files that can be removed from the disk I came across Bootwiz - I tried to delete it and was told it was in use. Later I ran a degramentation program and after it completed running it said Bootwiz was still defragmented. -- how can I get rid of Bootwiz?

Bootwiz is a folder under C:\
It is created by the Acronis Boot Selector: http://www.themudcrab.com/acronis_oss_bootwiz.php
If you activate the selector, bootwiz should be there. Make sure you list hidden files.

Or you might find it the executable in the system folder (c\windows or c:;windows\system32) -- but as Pat says, you need to enable viewing of hidden and system files in any case.

Thank you for replying so quickly and thoughtfully to my posts. It probably will be Monday before I can work on this. My System Disk is at my house and its snowing outside.
To achieve the goals I have in mind I need to have a stable platform. I think this forum is providing the help I need. I appreciate it.
Have a quick question, I have 82 duplicate files in directory C:\Windows\wisxs\x86_setup_. I am unable to delete them because I'm not the TrustedInstaller. What should a frustrated System Administrator do?

I would not delete these files. Microsoft recommends against it.

When I booted from Windows Installation CD, bootwiz was not visible. Don't know what you mean by activate selector?

OK - I will the 82 duplicate files alone. I wonder why Microsoft recommends against deleting these files.

just because a file exists in two places doesnt mean one of them is unsed. It depends on what program put which file where. sometimes several programswill install the same file or similar but same name files in diff places. u want to be careful not to delete neeeded files. if in doubt, dont poke the bear.
