Unexplained error messages
I am frustrated and angry!! I've been using True Image for a very long time, and have paid lots of money for upgrades. Now I find that my access to support has expired! Acronis' claim to quality support is nonsense. Here's the latest problem that I like to get resolved before I put this program in the trash.
Three hours and 44 minutes into a full backup, this error message was posted:
Event details: Failed to open data stream
Error Code: More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.
To access the online resource manually, enter the event code at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x01E5000E+0x000B03E9+0x01E50006+0x0004000F
I went to the site recommended and got this message:
Acronis Support Center
We are sorry
There is no information about this error available now. You can use the links below to search for any additional information that might be available.
Then at the conclusion of the backup (it apparently continued despite the error message above) I got another error message:
Event details: Operation has completed with errors
Error Code: More information about this error and solutions may be available online in the Acronis Knowledge Base.
To access the online resource manually, enter the event code at: http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x013C0005
I went to the references page and was told: this is a generic message, etc.
So with no help from the Acronis site and no support unless I pay for it, I need this Forum's help, please. And is anyone from Acronis sees this, please explain why you don't fully support your professional grade product.

Hello David and Colin,
Thank you for your posts and thank you for your kind help Colin.
David, I am very sorry to hear about this issue. Most likely it is caused by a corruption of the backup script, usually recreating the backup task resolves this issue. But just in case, it would be better if we investigate this problem.
I forwarded your comments to our Management team and once again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience.
Should you need additional help feel free to contact me directly.
Thank you.

I am having similar problems. In short, I believe my online backup script is corrupt but I can't delete, edit or recreate it. In fact, I'd like to start fresh but don't know if a complete TI reinstall will fix the problem, especially if the online backup script (or something it needs) is on Acronis servers. In that instance a reinstall wouldnt help. Here are the facts. (ps feel free to move this to its own thread if it doesn't relate to the OP's problem)
Using ATI 2012 latest version (6154 I think), first time backing up documents folder to online storage.
The scenario:
1. created online backup task. Took a while as it was my first time... While creating task, but before naming or saving it, a first backup task appeared in the backup list with a long string of hex characters, like "fea23a26...". So I quickly finished naming and saving my task with the name of the computer and folder to be backed up.
2. Then a second online task appeared with the correct name, I clicked on backup now and the tasks merged and worked fine for several hours.
3. Nervous I rushed through the settings I attempted to suspend the task with the intention of changing the settings to incremental (I didn't know all file backups to online storage were always incremental).
4. At the time I hit suspend, acronis was backing up a large file, so it took a while. In any case, it never suspended, so I quit acronis... Learned that my backup settings were, after all, ok .. Reopened Acronis to continue the backup.
5. First however I edited the settings to uncheck two subflolders. Then in the edit online backup settings window, an "unexplained server error" appeared under the storage bar... So couldn't save edits.
6 canceled out and tried to resume backup. Then the errors really started to pile up.
7. First error said an instance of the app was already running. So I restarted the computer.
8. Opened ATI 2012 and the online backup with the weird name (fe23a3...) appeared. So I closed and reopened acronis, logging out and back in to my acronis account.
9. The correct backup appeared, but gave a server error at any attempt to backup... Errors exactly like OP posted. Very long hex error strings saying to check knowledge base. Again, see OP.
10. Then the option to backup went away, leaving only "view log" "collapse" and "delete"
11. So I chose delete figuring I'd start over. After a long time I got a server error and delete was no longer an option.... So I went online to manage my backups and saw it but got a server error ( try again later) whenever i tried to access it. Logged out ad back in and it was gone, deleted I presume.
12. Went back to Acronis and after many restarts ( the program, the sync service, and the whole computer) it appears I am stuck.
The options for the online backup, as listed in acronis are "view
log" and "collapse". But now I can edit the online task. Great. Only when I click "online backup" or "edit online backup", whichever, the window opens and the task is set to default settings only below the storage bar is a red error strip that says "unexplained server error" and no changes I can make will fix this, the error remains and keeps the "backup now" button greyed out and so changes cant be saved.
Basically, I think my actions also created a script error. Only, I cant delete the backup to start fresh. Nor can I edit the task to recreate it due to the unexplained error. I even tried logging out, then creating a new online backup task, but when it asks for my credentials, the errors pop back up.
So if I can't create a new backup task/script, what I do? I am beta testing syncme IOS app amd that all works great on both computers and my iPad, so sync works great. I just borked my first online backup and now don't think even an uninstall and reinstall will help as the obline backup script may be on acronis servers (I'm guessing because it only appears once my credentials at entered).
Will a reinstall of ATI 2012 home fix the problem or does acronis need to reset my online storage account? Help!
Long time user, here. And long post, i know. I am Just new to online backup and totally lost.
Final fact, not realizing the sync service also governs online backup, I noticed all my iPad syncme files appearing on the computer in question. I didn't want them there so I paused the sync, moved the sync folder, deleted the contents of the syncme folder and added a password to the sync on my main computer but not my 2nd computer (the one I am trying to backup online). This seems to have stopped my iPad files syncing with computer 2, but may be part of the problem. NB. I restarted the sync service with some positive results but I never disabled it or set it to anything other than its default (automatic).
